Symco has changed big time since i was here last. Its waaaayy bigger. The vintage camping is sold out. The swap meet is sold out. The regular camping has spilled into the over flow area. I brought my newly acquired 1965 Forester camper and joined the fun. Heres some teaser pics. This is my favorite non racing show of the year. As you can see the vintage camping is a big part of the show. There are over a hundred vintage campers here.
Lots of neat stuff to look at both cars and trailers. What kind of motorcycle was that parked in front of the antique tractors? Thanks.
The guy that started symco was a over the road trucker. During his travels if he found something he liked he brought it home. As original buildings in symco became available he moved them also to his property. The buildings have all of the artifacts in the. The whole town is open to tour. Its better than a hollywood set. One of the largest thresheries is held there. The amount of big hit and miss engines along with every imaginable piece of old farm equipment is staggering. During the show old steam tractors are driven around and the big hit and miss engines are fired up. There are mini bike drag races; swap meet; pin up contest; 18 bands from all over the country; burnout contest; vintage camper show and much more.
Word has it some dumb ass stole the symco sign. This is a class act car show. If you know who took it lets get it back asap. Its these kind of stupid things that get a show booted from the grounds.
Thanks for sharing what makes this show one of a kind @racer-x Perhaps you can share a pic of the sign that disappeared...it will help picking it out in the crowd...little shit that stings...
That chopped green Chevy a few pics up ^^ was REALLY nice. I didn't take pics, but my wife got a couple. If you missed Dale Watson Friday night, you were in the wrong place.
The sign is one the county puts along the road letting motorists know where they are. Its green with white letters. The whole thing is reflective. Guys wanted to take pics with their cars by the sign. Some inconsiderate nut sack robbed them of that.
