Good Eye...I'm chuckling thinking about how many times I've done similar home projects and even at work laying out holes...check twice cut/drill once...

I'll bet he got ribbed for it on occasion......kinda embarrassing...I know...

When I looked at the Kustomrama website for some old information on a 50 Ford custom, I ran across this photo of a 51 Oldsmobile sedan with some flames. My brother wanted to get some flames on his 51 Oldsmobile and that was a nightmare. We outlined the flame pattern on some white paper taped together on the hood and fenders. They looked good as the swirls and pockets were even and looked like custom flames.

But not being detailed painters like the custom guys, we ran into difficulties and scrapped the whole project. If he wanted flames, he would save up and have someone pinstripe an outline of flames on his yellow 51 Oldsmobile. When we tried the “outline only” style flames with a black water color marker, it also was a disaster. So, the flame idea fizzled out. Pun intended.

The Kustomrama site had some great looking photos of a black two door sedan with flames. It was a push car/tow car for one of our early favorite drag racers, Bobby Langley.

I was floored at seeing the custom black 51 Oldsmobile sedan with flames, but with the addition of the wild side exhaust pipes, that was individual to say the least. It was really one of a kind set up and stood out from all of the rest of the tow/push cars. It would stand out on any location with those crazy side/rear exhaust pipes.
