Web capture from Gear Head Hobbies video from when he got plane ride over the racing yesterday 8/10/21. It shows the limits of the salt layer too.
All photo creds to Gearhead Hobbies. gearhead hobbies bonneville 8 10 21.jpeg
I think he had to be back to work today and isn't doing video.

They have the radio going on though SpeedWeek 2021 Day 5 Wednesday | Radio Show | landracing (meridix.com)

  9. Hahahaha! Boyd got posted more this week from that fiasco than when it actually happened!

Another good example of why you do not stray too far from the pits/race courses.

If it had a minimum it wouldn't matter. He's got enuf red hats to open a store.

  17. Found out it was C/BGRMR which has a 250 minimum. No idea where the 200 Ro mentioned came from unless someone else already ran that this meet?

The record stood at 200.083, set by the Kraut brothers in 2014. To get into the 200 club, one must set a record over 200 mph AND exceed the minimum MPH set by the club. This policy is to make sure that you can not easily to get into the club by exploiting a class with a soft record. In this case, that minimum was 250 mph.

  19. I know how the minimums work, see my above posts. I did not look up the record since I had no idea what class he was running. But thanks! The Kraut Bros are impressive competition.

I'm thinking that there was a time when you could bump the record by just a few mph and get a red hat and then your buddy/brother could go bump yours by a couple more and get theirs until the whole gang and gaggle had bumped the record up just enough each time to qualify.

  22. You can if there is no minimum in that class. OR, if you are top dog and can run a couple percent faster each time. Bockscar is a good example of earning Red Hats. Same with Ro's Contrivance Eng. Car. Just smart teams that know how to go fast!

I remember hearing a crew discuss that very thing some years ago. I'll go, you'll go, he'll go. They thought they had it. None of them got it. Car had the potential though.

  25. This actually shows the long course and the combo course. The short course is around the bend to the right off frame.

  26. Thanks to all who helped this year, didn't quite make the 200 mark. 196.288.
See you next year. Still "World's Fastest Y-Block". ;)

I just listened to #66 BMR B/Fuel Roadster qualify on the own record of 285 at a speed of 308+ recorded in the middle mile.
This makes the 5th roadster over 300. 3 others are modifieds and I other is a 34 bodied. The owner is Doug Robinson and the engine an A Fuel dragster style and limited to 440 cubic inches. This is the first unblown roadster over 300. I’m hoping for another great run in the morning the last day of the meet.
