Built in the ‘60’s in upstate NY, near the Canadian border.
    Still researching the history
    Filled roof
    8BA with ‘39 trans / brakes, 12V
    Dropped axle, reversed eye springs
    Crazed Dark Blue lacquer
Button tufted interior, which is okay, but the threads have deteriorated.
Plans are to save the interior, stick an F1 box in it, and perhaps ‘36 headlights.
Some of the work is pretty crude, but I’m not going to change it, just make it safe. It was a fluke. A customer of Eli English’s called him and needed money fast.
He called me and picked it up the next day.
It’s titled, and runs and drives, but needs a steering box.
I’ll try to restitch the interior, and call it a day.

    Nice HOT ROD!
I might be tempted to make it slightly less safe, and hang the bumpers in the garage, though!

Hidden surprises like nails for cotter pins...now that's an assumption but I saw that yesterday on a fairly pristine A Coupe...sometimes springs were bent to get the look too...Alfin will share...I like seeing the warts and all on these vintage warriors...

I hope some vintage pics surface with some History...maybe it had a bumperless period...with Eli and Alfin in on it we will be picking up our jaws in short order...

  22. @alfin32 , you have some of the coolest cars- Your '55, your '32, and now this '33 with a perfect stance.

Interesting that a 1960's hot rodder filled the roof and spent serious $$ on a modern interior, but didn't replace the flathead with an OHV engine, or the wire wheels with steelies or mags. There's gotta be a story there.

Just got back from seeing the car and it’s unreal!!!
Going through the paperwork I find it was possibly built in Ca. in 1963, and it still has that plate on it.
The ownership history is as follows:
    1963-2015…..Ronald Orion Johnston, Carmichael, Ca.
    2015- 20??…..Keith Hoey, Ontario, Canada
    20??-2021……Dave Gazaway, Bow, NH
    2021………….Me
I’m the third of Eli’s customers to have owned it since 2015.
    The Good:
Rebuilt 8BA that started instantly, and sounded great, but it’s got straight pipes that have to go.
The floors, kick panels, doors, and quarters are among the best I’ve ever seen.
All the gaps are great and no evidence of bondo or accident damage.
    The Bad:
All the fender beads have been cracked in areas and reinforced with rebar, which I’m leaving.
The roof is filled, but a little flat, which I’m leaving.
The steering is unbearable, and the box moves on the frame, so an F1 will take it’s place.
If Popeye’s calf muscles matched his forearms, he still couldn’t push the clutch in, so that will need some work.
The paint is all chipped and crazed, and I love it!
The only rust I could find was the bottom of the rear window tray, and a small section of the trunk floor, which we will leave for the time being.
    I’m pretty psyched, and will send pics in batches. 987C99AC-51B7-47C1-830E-24011A7BE4FB.jpeg 2CEB5606-C882-4AE8-9F37-32C5A045A199.jpeg BE8AC14C-F46A-4BC9-A4C6-36A99A52251B.jpeg B4F868CE-95BA-4A63-B319-2F642B46CCF9.jpeg D33C8821-A50E-40A2-9C6D-E570072BCC17.jpeg 9488D26C-D668-4B58-BFBB-96E90EC46B5B.jpeg C32BA6AE-E878-4BAA-9D27-1153DF48D830.jpeg 64B373F9-6DD2-4FF2-AE92-5AC26EC59687.jpeg 8CFA4C3B-8E8C-4F58-B870-8242A8B9C357.jpeg
