I was at the starting line for that run. Pretty exciting. My wife got video of the leave. I apparently forgot to take any pictures of the event though.

  7. Do any of you salt veterans have any feelings on the guys doing donuts and purposefully spinning tires on the salt?

No big deal? Horrible treatment of our public land? Or? Seriously curious. I'm talking about spectators. Not the guys that are racing.

I was there about 10 times back 20-30 years ago, and never saw any such activity. perhaps times have changed as there was really not much of a spectator crowd back then. Personally, I would frown on that stuff

  9. I don't know how to link the videos, but it is happening this year. A bunch of guys have called them out, and they're acting like it's no big deal.

Coddington sure made a mess of it some years back.

  11. If I'm wrong, and it's not a big deal, please let me know. Just seems pretty destructive to a fragile landscape.

That and most activity should be policed...this natural phenomenon a functioning ecosystem and coveted raceway...could and is being jeopardized, the liberty now enjoyed...Patrol comes to mind...not an easy job in many ways...

I mean can this stuff be repaired they must repair track damage...with the incidence of misfortune...

Hoodlum and Hotrod have a sinister connection...we know now what we have...but to some it is just a platform for another mindset...it actually is more a past reality in many ways...

Me I want to do what Hotrods were made to do Speed On Straight On...

    Some may say otherwise

It is in many ways an Indy or Race Inspired Manouver...maybe even Roundy Rounders did it...then it went to the Street...Voila...Hoodlum...

  13. My Dad taught me many moons ago to leave a place better than you found it and always police the area ( clean-up) before you leave. Maybe times have changed.

In theory the salt basin floods and it all gets smooth again...But I think tearing it up is childish

On the 200 mph club, no record no hat is what I understand.

  18. If you scroll down you will see that if a class has no record that there is a minimum you need to run to get the record AND a hat.

An example is the rear engine roadster class we want to run. The minimum is set at 220

We camped at Water Canyon above Winnemucca today on the way home. Searched for TV channels and on came Counts Kustoms 2017 Bonneville 2 episode show with Turbinator and painting it. The also chatted with Shawn and several others such as Old Crow.

I found it fitting that it was airing during Speedweek!

We chatted with Shawn a couple days ago.

It wasn't deliberate. It was simply not paying attention and following directions. And it cost them - the tow bill was in the thousands.

How did @mctim64 do...he sure upped his game at a minimum...191 is getting up there without a doubt...

Regardless of outcome it sounds from a Hamb perspective all are ok and I'm proud of all you Hoodlums for giving it your all...this is life in the fast lane without a doubt...;)
