I also did some roadster work to align the body so the hood would latch square, the doors align correctly, and the rumble seat lid closes and latches better. ‘Ratty’ still ain’t no beauty queen. Haha!

He has FOUR awesome Model A hot rods. Any one of which would be my ultimate car.

Raymond is another one of these really great guys who have a wealth of knowledge and are eager to share their experience and recommendations. I’m loving this community of guys with common interests.

Yesterday my friend brought his 99 year old Grandpa, Stanley, over to check out the Model A’s. It was so awesome to hear his stories. Back in the late 30s he and his buddies went in together on a Model A coupe. He said it cost $100. They took turns using on the weekends. He said they really beat it up.

I finally got around to fabricating a brace for behind the seat. It really stiffened up the turtle deck area. I still need to figure out how to stiffen up the little quarter panels behind the doors. Those areas are really bad/cracked/loose. (Please ignore the sheet metal screws. Those are temporary)

Question - I have a pretty significant transmission fluid leak from the speedometer cable attachment on the roadster. I don’t have a speedometer cable attached. The speedometer is rusted solid anyway. Each time I do some yard driving it makes a pretty good puddle. I can see it leaking directly from where the speedo cable would be. This is different than the engine oil leak from the big cotter pin bell housing area I had on the coupe. I’m also wonder if it could be coming from the rear end through the torque tube. Same 600 fluid in both. Opinions? Suggestions?

That looks good to me. The fuses all are placed to prevent wiring fires.

Working on laying out the wiring. Creating a switch plate for under the drivers side dash/tank. Front side will have a couple of switches with room for expansion. Back side will hold a vintage fuse block and a couple of relays. I plan to mount the old floor dimmer switch on the floor/firewall area. Not exactly sure of the placement for that yet. 35F6E13C-6AE4-4C43-A8F9-D1AA2062E507.jpeg

Question - I rewired the roadster ignition. I also installed new plugs (gapped). Now it backfires really bad when I let off the throttle and going downhill under load. It didn't do that before. What can I do to fix this?

You might reinstall the old plugs and see what that does. A little anti seize might have gotten on an electrode and of course, that will foul the plug.

Good idea. I’ll run it with the old plugs to see if that makes a difference.

So I just drove it with the GAV open almost an extra full turn and it didn't backfire. I'm trying to make logic from that. Why would running richer be better? Why would running leaner cause backfire.
