Anyone Have any pictures of these inner beauty rings with blackwall tires on 39-40 fords ? Remember seeing a couple vintage pics in the past on earlier coupes and sedans like to see any pics on blackwall tires . I see plenty of pics with whitewalls . Think they have a real old timey hot rod look when used with the black walls. Although not for everyone . Heres one Straykatscustoms had posted on the 81 yr 40 ford birthday thread . Others are me putting some together in my garage inner and outer beauty ring + 40 center cap . I know they are 16" inch ! Just thinkin! Thanks in advance !
I like the look of the inner ring and cap combo. Not so much with both rings. I’m no expert as I run only the caps.
I.Rant , think your right , was trying to come up with a way to use these 16" inner rings on 15" wheels , only thing I have come up with is they fit good on the 15" outer rings thought of trying to get them tacked together open up the inner ring where the valve stem would be .Mount that on as one piece then install center cap ? But not sure I like the look ?
Hello, This photo is of our last 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery that had a 327 in it. The look was to get it similar to my first hot rod when I was a teenager, another 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery. We did not have any 35mm film cameras back then and dragging out my dad’s huge 4x5 Graflex Press Camera was not happening anytime soon. So, there are no photos of my teenage sedan delivery version. It did have what I could afford, black rims, chrome beauty trim rings and small round center hubcaps. It was just enough to give it a drag racing look, although it had a whopping 80 hp stock Flathead motor instead of a 348 Chevy motor that was in it when I first saw the sedan delivery. If you are adding outer beauty trim rings and a center trim ring plus a small hubcap, why not just find a full hubcap to have a look without the extra three piece suit? The look of the black rims and beauty trim rings has its own look. But, add in a inner trim ring and it now looks like a full hubcap, taking away the uniqueness of the outside ring and center hubcap. Jnaki But, who am I to talk, during the time of the waning 40 Ford Sedan Delivery, I just happen to get a set of outer trim rings from a high school friend and added them to my small center Impala hubcap. It was what I could afford at the time (free) and it made my junior-senior year Impala look like a fashionable mag wheel. We had gone through many changes of painted rims on the 58 Impala. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/hot-rods-with-bare-painted-steel-wheels-thread.1215519/page-9#post-13999341 https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/pics-of-58-chevies.951592/page-24#post-13490151 trim rings But, for the first sedan delivery and 8 years later, the second coming of the 327 SBC 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery, the black painted rims and small center hubcaps with the beauty trim rings had “THE” look for us. Jnaki, thanks for the pics and input. I agree about full hubcaps . Think I will leave it alone .At least for this week !
alchemy, was watching his thread on his neat 32 build and saw the pics of the wheel set up , liked that look but again thinking I won't use the inner trim rings on my 40 ,leaving wheels alone for now , thank you .
