    Hey Guys.

Does anybody have any detailed photos of the lower swage that the front doors sit on. It connects the A pillar to the B pillar, I am missing them and need to make up a pair so any help is appreciated.

    Cheers.

That "lower swage" is part of the scuff plate that has Ford stamped in it. You see it when you open the door. It is screwed to the sub rail. Some of the Model A restoration supply houses have them. They are spendy, and I understand they don't fit well. My Phaeton needs them too.

Thanks for the info, I will probably make up a simple set minus the stampings, the other option I have been considering is to add them to the bottom of the doors like the 30/31s. I am not sure why no one has ever done that.

    think they are called sills...
American '28- '29 open cars have them... '30-'31s do not...
like the "add them to" idea !

I have thought about adding an extension to the bottom of the doors too. My concern is the extension would be flat, like the door skin. However the area in front, and behind the door has a bit of a hump or reveal in it. Maybe that's ok. I am on my way to Bonneville. The Phaeton has been pushed over in the corner again. Maybe this winter.....

  7. Old Era Services in NSW used to make them. I have used them but that was a good 15 years ago. I forget the bloke's name (not unusual.)

They are called sill plates and you can get them from Snyder's Antique Ford parts. They are the same
as the roadster, but have a notch for the seat riser on a roadster pickup. $185. a pair....That is if you don't want to make them.

Old World Panels make them now, and they are based in Qld.
