  2. So I’ve been going furiously at getting this thing together. My original adapter set up was a complete failure. It put the input shaft to far back to work properly. Luckily my good buddy @hotrodderhaag was able to bail me out with an MEC adapter to top loader four speed. That fixed the depth issue, but my trans had the old 49 to 64 bolt pattern and would not bolt up. So hot rod friends to the rescue again. My pal @hotrodkoppy was able to do some highly skilled welding and weld up the MEC adapter to allow it to bolt together properly. DA5B3FF2-C6B0-4DCA-B4A0-E39200220ED6.jpeg

  3. Then there was the driveshaft debacle. I could find no one that could make the drive shaft locally for me in the time frame I needed. Once again my hot rod pals saved me. My best bro @hotdamn came to my rescue and had his guy make me one and shipped it out same day. And it fit like a glove. 68F0C684-3E5F-46B1-AB78-C0D81FB0C215.png 7584FCD5-9DD6-46A5-B68B-06A959FA75EA.png

  5. With Bonneville rapidly approaching I wanted to get the car better insulated and more comfortable for the ride across country. So. Let’s do most of an interior real quick. I insulated the firewall the roof and the floors real good with some foil backed foam, killmat and some thick foil faced high density foam. It really made a huge difference. Then I got all the glass channels and window fuzzies replaced along with new glass in the quarters and back window. Happy to announce. No more rattles. Next we got the carpet installed and I whipped up some door panels with more of the diamond tuck material from the running boards along with some 57 Chevy armrests left over from dads nomad. 6. Then I added a little foam from a Walmart memory foam mattress topper to the bottom of the front seat and wrapped it with a New Mexican blanket. Mom stitched up some quickie covers for the seat backs. Also got the inside lights working as well as put my carved Buffalo nickel shift knob from @jimmygrrr on it. 22EDF1CF-454B-427A-8B66-4D725D2E74FF.jpeg 54D0A2B5-655C-454C-B5DE-7AC7296ED876.jpeg B60D0D6D-0AFE-4FFD-9319-4A03D7A6D67F.jpeg

  7. I even got a sweet little back up light rebuilt and wired up off the back up light switch in the keep shifter. D1F6F1F9-61DB-4913-903D-E9D1042C3B6D.jpeg

  8. Next and finally the last hung in the list was swapping wheels and tire to a set of chrome reverse rears and chrome fronts with 40 center and new white walls with spider caps. Now. She looks like I always wanted!! Just need to wash her and clean her all up and she is ready for the trip across country!!! 87A508F8-14A3-4079-BAC6-12E0FB385C87.jpeg 2757341F-1391-48C1-AC6B-84B823ADB811.jpeg FE9FB7B3-4616-4F2B-B2A3-CDC14A6DD52D.jpeg

  10. Man, lookin good! I just bought a 39 sedan with a chevy and OG drivetrain, so I may be studying this later. What's your secret for keeping the windshield from leaking? mine dumped water in during a rainstorm while it was on the trailer on the way home.

  11. I used a Bob Drake windshield frame gasket and several hours of adjusting the hinges and regulator. Its not perfect, it still drips a little, but way better than before. Anytime the windshield frame comes out of one of these, expect to adjust it at least a little. There is a suprizing amount of adjustment in the hinges off the header panel.

Was that a trendy thing to do back in the day? Cody Walls mentioned possibly doing that...Does it wash of first trip to the carwash?

  27. We survived the trip to Bonneville and back. It was a religious experience for me. I have wanted to go there for almost 30 years. Now i am addicted and have to figure out how to get back next year. I have tons of pictures of the ride out, On the salt, and some on the way back. Ill get a bunch of them up tonight. for now I'll just post this one up.

  29. What happened at Bonneville? I see different wheels on the back in the pics, and someone said you had to tear it apart on the salt? Spill!
