I got this aircraft seat from a friend who thinks it came out of a Lockheed P2V Neptune, or perhaps an Orion. Anyone have any ideas? There are no markings on it anywhere I can find and I've looked carefully. The frame is aluminum and the seat itself is fiberglass. I'd like to find out what it is from before I decide what to do with it..

  2. Welcome to the HAMB.

That seat isn't from an Orion.
I have 2200 flight hours in the mighty P-3 Orion. The seats look like this:

    Congratulations on a good score.

Go to these two websites as a good start to get the information that you are seeking.

Start with this one first WWW.Warbirds-eaa.org

If the guys at the EAA cant help you, then go to this one second planesoffame.org those guys can help you for sure.

Be sure to take some better shots of the seat from all angles and make the pictures bigger than what is offered here, it makes the identification a lot easier for the folks on the other end.
    Enjoy.

    From Dennis.

@Just Gary, What does the 17th switch, 4th row down, just left of center do ? LOL, you guys that fly that stuff amaze me. One of my friends in high school had a poster of a 747 cockpit on his bedroom wall instead of the Farrah Fawcett poster like the rest of us. And yes, he did go on to be a commercial pilot.

I doubt it was meant to sit in. Looks like that seat well was meant for a parachute. Which may be a clue to its use.

Yep... Military aircraft Pre-WW2/WW2 and early jets were set up to use the reserve chute as a seat cushion. My B-25 seat 598840_311863432237583_547490303_n.jpg

Not to start an argument but, the OP has 4501 posts.

Edit: ah, you're looking at Just Gary's post count, not the OP ;)

It looks like a passenger seat out of a military aircraft to me. I envision it in something with a large door to jump out of…
