Aww shucks guys...you're making me blush. But thanks for the kind words and the birthday greeting you guys.

BUT, it was THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!!! I've been thrashing on the '36 Cabriolet all week, and we took it out for for the first time tonight...(to a birthday dinner & movie). Only about a 15 mile break-in run, but no issues and everything felt good. Will download and post some pics tomorrow.

Incidentally, the movie Bonnie picked for my birthday was called "Old". kind of insulting...don't ya think?

  7. Enjoy it buddy, and enjoy putting some miles on that car ;)

Jack, I spent a great bunch of my Teens rifling through Street Rodder and as a wannabe Artist never missed the Illustrations that graced and pulled it all together...even though it was post Hamb era there was always a respect and print given to the great period we celebrate here not to mention some other notable people some also members here...

Thanks for your influences to date to our great passion and hobby...;)

  11. .................Glad it was a fun B-Day, Jack. Any movie by M. Night Shyamalan tends to give me "Night" mares!!:D;)..............Don.

Hey @Stogy Thanks so much for the kind words.:)
I must admit, it was a pretty exciting time for this 25 year old kid to be (slightly) involved in the re-birth of the Street/Hot Rodding hobby.
A lot of these guys from the early years of Street Rodder Mag. went on to be movers, shakers and legends in the hobby...some of us, not so much;)

  26. Happy belated birthday { JACK } I don't get on here as much this time of the year. So I missed your party. Sorry :( I too love your Art work. I do think that you were born with that kind of talent. I been drawing cars since I could hold a pencil, and I'm no artist.:( I hope you got a new, { OLD } Toy car for your Birthday. Your Cabriolet looks GREAT! I made ya a cake. No not really:p 839.jpg

    Thanks Jim...very much appreciated.

My goal was a mild custom '36 that you might see at an Autorama in the early/mid 60s... customized with lots of detail, chrome and accessories...but not take it too far.
I didn't want a leadsled or tail dragger (they were a little before my time) but the hot rods 0f the mid 60s car shows I loved had that "California Rake"...big & little tires ,a dropped axle and a "heavier than stock" engine weighing the nose down.:)
