I am a wagon guy, the horse drawn kind. I just saved and old steel running gear from certain death in a field. Apparently in the 1930s this old 1890s bettendorf was called back into service and some axles were welded on it. Does anyone know what they are? I am happy to offer free rides for helping!
Thanks, that's great! Any idea when they where made? Any wild ideas about the back? Looks like its had more than one over its life.
I think someone changed it out because there are old brackets. There are numbers but I can't get them to come back to anything.
The backing plates and hubs are defiantly off a fwd car. my guess with the square flange and torx bits either a Buick or olds fwd car mid to late 80’s. by the mid 90’s most GM stuff had rear disc brakes.
Story was during the depression they fixed a wagon that the wheels rusted off the bottom of because the cars were useless...dont know if that even remotely sounds reasonably true lol
You were 100% spot on. Found a date code of 83 on them. Looks like some tried to replace the old axle at some point.
