Hot Rods XO/PP Bonneville project

Here are a few pictures and a video from Saturday. We're ready boys!

 

Right when you think you are ready to go things things change.
Coming back from getting the trailer inspected I began having brake issues on the tow truck. The right front brake was sticking and got hot.
So it's back in the shop for brake work. Better now than on the way west.
The salt God's are making me pay up and testing my will to continue.
But my I won't give up attitude will prevail ...

 

The hot steaming weather is taking a toll on my old body today. Had to shut down and go get in the AC
Just can't take the heat like when I was younger..

 

Update we are ready
Loading this Saturday bolting the truck in for the journey west.
I am leaving on August 1st and should arrive on Wednesday the 4th
The crew arrives on the 5th in the evening .
Looks like it's going to be a very good year for the Salt and we are set on kill. Wish us the best of luck..
Thank you everyone who has been a part of this journey. Wouldn't have wanted to do this without each one of you.. this could be our year!!

Live radar showed a rain storm going over the flats last night around 9 pm.
Anyone know how much rain fell on the salt???

 

I wouldn’t worry a bought rain 7 days before the start. Next week Wednesday or Thursday yes. I know when your traveling a long way it means a lot.. watch the weather 4-5 days out they have way better forecasting now and from past years it always seem to be slightly south of the salt surface as the front go around the mountains. .. still wishing you the best of luck.

 

Thanks jimmy six I appreciate your input. I see where the weather next week is hot and dry and should dry up any small amount of rain.

 

Also remember wind can be our friend as well. The right wind can blow standing water in the pits and on the course to a completely different part of the salt!
