Thomas Caruso Looks like Johnny Ritter #3, Loyd Christopher #1 and Len Fennelli in Smokey Secondo's # 63...... and I think Al Keller in the Tony Yacavone # 8
Mark Light’s number 9 Pop Dreyer-built Offy powered ride is seen on its trailer after just arriving at Jacksonville Speedway on November 15, 1947. Mark qualified that day with a time of 26.15 seconds on the 1/2 mile track. The next day in the 30 lap AAA feature race Mark finished 6th behind Ted Horn, Walt Brown, Tommy Hinnershitz, Joie Chitwood, Jackie Holmes, and in front of Fred Bailes, Tommy Matson, Fred Carpenter, and George Witzman.
Mickey Cooper out of La Jolla, CA was a member of the San Diego Roadster Club and brought this Class C Modified Roadster to Bonneville in 1954. The Merc-powered '27 was a real beauty and scooted along at 148.02 mph to grab eighth in class. In the mid 30’s Mickey's dad was a top runner at the old Silvergate Speedway.
A group of rodders on their way to Alviso, California back in 1955 for a sprint car race. On the left, we see Nick Arias. His '53 Cad V8 is in the 44 Big Car. To his right with hands in his pocket is Ray Douglass. The number 57 car is Don Blair's. It has a DeSoto Hemi in it. On the far right is Tony Gonzales.

I spent 7 years waiting to grow up enough to work at this shop. It was where you took the problems no other garage or gas station could figure out. The prices bring a smile ...
I wish I'd owned a camera back then. The '48 Chev Aerosedan trade-in had been shaved, lowered, upholstered, & everything inside was chromed, even the mast jacket. I was trying to get it from Bremerton to Idaho Falls on a 96 hr "special liberty" weekend. Around 3 AM Sat. in Garden City (suburb of Boise), the seriously worn '54 motor blew the whole righthand side out of the block ... It was half a block from this car lot, so I got this deal from the old boy ... He let me strip everything I could from the interior, still have the garnish rails & most of the dash.
This outfit made you bring a note from your parents if you were under 18 before he'd cut your coils ... I was in the Navy, home on boot leave, so he let me slide.
