Folks Of Interest there is no easy way of saying it - Gene Cromer has passed away

It is with a heavy heart I let the HAMB community know that the man I have looked up to since I was a kid is no longer with us, he is not suffering anymore.

I was told Gene passed away early this morning after being transferred to Saint Francis hospital in Greenville, South Carolina.

He was a neighbor when I was a kid, a childhood hero and as a wonderful friend as a adult, Gene was a good & honorable man, a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather and great- grandfather also a devout Christian.

Please keep the entire Cromer family in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days.

I will post funeral arrangements when they are available. Danny

He's not gone, he lives on through us.....some men leave a mark when they go, he has left us with memories and adulation, what more respect is there than that?

My deepest condolences go out to Gene's family and friends. I will be lifting them all up in prayer. I never got to meet Gene but from everything I've seen and heard he was an outstanding human being. Godspeed Mr. Cromer!

I’m very sorry to hear this and I hate to use the old cliche but his suffering is over. The accident took its initial toll on Mr. Cromer and then things were compounded by a series of other situations, he is at rest now.
We’re sorry to see him go but we can reflect on his life as a friend, husband, father and grandfather where he no doubt excelled. Beyond his private life Gene was a racer and no doubt touched many over the years whether it was as a competitor or just a friendly face giving inspiration to a little kid in the pits. Who knows how many followed in his footsteps? We need more Gene Cromers, not just as hot rodders, but from all walks of life.

Saw this earlier today and My Heart was Saddened by the news. Gene Cromer meant many things to a Lot of people, Prayers of Comfort and Healing to His Family, Friends and Fans from around the world.
