I hope to see your car in person one day. It is a work of art and I am an artist a printmaker by choice
I've said it before and I'll say it again, "thanks for sharing this build." It is a fabulous car and watching it come together is a thrill.
I know it says the name of the coachbuilder on the plaque on the door sill i just cant read or remember it
Been busy on Cadillacs and getting workshop organised the last couple of weeks. Got very close to getting the Packard out in the sunshine but constant rain precluded it. Maybe next week. I did get a rear shot though. Bumper brackets need a bit of realignment.
Spectacular. So unlike anything that's been built before but still so obviously a Packard. Looks as good with the top up as with it down, and not a bad body line on it. And as much as I liked the recessed license plate in the rear, the fold-down luggage rack really was the way to go, it just feels right.
Looks fantastic!! Maybe now that there's a nice side shot of the car, you could have the Photoshop guys lower it and paint it..
Is there going to be a pan between the rear bumper and the body? Would extending the the bumper ends to the skirts be proper? What's your idea for the front bumper(s)?
Appreciate the compliments. Yes the back bumper will get a valance. Still a bit of tweaking to do to the rear overiders to match the front ones. The front bar is already sorted if you go to earlier posts but I was just moving things around in the shed so didn’t get round to re attaching the front bar. It was just that a mate arrived and I figured it was a good opportunity to get a push. Nothing out of the normal…. You can imagine how things went….
I don't know what kinda Ford that clown was in -- I thought it was a Model A, but it didn't have the requisite 32 grille and shell.
Haven’t done much the past week except spray a can of silver and reinstall the front bumper and push her back outside for another look.
Just got my hands on a '46 120 car w/ the 282. Looks and sounds good but if I have to get into a piston change, what do you suppose is a safe amount of bore for the 282? I haven't had the good luck yet to run into a Packard guy around these parts that has rebuilt a 282.
Thare are several There are national and local Packard clubs all over the world. I've had very good luck with various questions, etc. by contacting individuals via the web sites. There are still a lot of folks who are deeply involved.
Thanks Jimmy for the pics. That’s a rare one. I may build a hardtop yet out of the original roof. Not now. Later. Been busy on other stuff lately. But I did buy another spare top mech and this one has all the hydraulics so I’ve swapped everything over and hope to get the top working hydraulically soon. I had to modify my pantograph door support for the ram to have free travel. It’s a very tight squeeze but everything just fits. A friend has this original artwork that I only saw for the first time this week. Not sure the car was ever built.
Gday Hillcogolpher, get on the Packard Automobile Classics Facebook page. Lots of knowledge on there. They will help you out.
A good little Saturday job was to get the 39 Buick headlights to flow with the Packard fenders. Trickier than it looks so it soaked up a whole day.
