Projects Yard find 1941 Ford pickup

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Jul 12, 2021.

  1. I was pretty serious on that truck. Had a friend over there go look at it. Guy would not budge on his price, and beings the cab, bed and frame are rotted…man I just couldn’t justify 23K. It may be worth it, but regardless what shape it is, that’s just a chunk of dough. This one was 20K less…

  2. Great find, the bumpers, the chrome reverse wheels....that truck is cool....and next door to your grandmas!!. I noticed that they used the stock Chevy hangers on the rear parallel leafs, was that a thing in the 60’s?. My ‘41 also has a 55/56 Chevy rear with stock leafs (and hangers), a Chevy V8, a power glide, the same antenna and was built around ‘72.

  4. He's had it for sale FOREVER too. I'd much rather have the truck you just found. The price is very much "right"

  9. Sounds like you need to go see your Grandma more often!! Cool truck

  10. Got the interior gutted and seat washed off. It needs floor pans and lower door hinge pockets but I kind of assumed that. The interior is kind of crusty and gross. Nothing some stripping and painting can’t fix. Luckily these trucks are extremely basic. Waiting on some wheel adapters to show up so I can bolt some rollers on it and unload it. I don’t own any 5x4.75” wheels

  11. That shifter is a unique design, kinda reminds me of one I had on my 53 Olds back in 60's:rolleyes:

Where is it? Is it that that galvanized looking thing that looks like a piece of pipe?

I'd be happy with that truck. I hope the frame is solid; they are getting hard to find if you're looking for an original. Midwest Early Ford had some good cab and bed pieces. Hopefully you won't need too many.

  14. It loos like the "X" has a very small amount in the typical place where it meets the outer rail just before the kickup. Does no look horrible tho. This truck will need some TLC for sure, but...I've been looking for one for a while and am still happy with it. These trucks as an old survivor are just no around.

  15. It's a curved piece of chrome solid bar hooked directly to the shift shaft on the tans :D

  18. My grandmother lives in a small retirement community just north of Francis on Crestline. I did stop and visit for an hour or so after loading it up.

  19. I used to, wish I still did. Been waaaaaaaaay too any, that's for sure!

  20. There is a frame on marketplace right now, a friend of mine has it for sale. Bed and fenders are going to be the hardest thing to find for a 40-41 pickup

I just looked: Midwest Early Ford (Ohio) still shows un-assembled bed kits for your truck.$2095. Macks in St. Louis also makes bed parts.

Nice find. I have kinda been looking for one as well. My friend has all 4 fenders and boards that are very nice shape that I can get.

  28. Wheel adapters showed up yesterday. So I got some tires on it, had to put caps n rings too…and rolled it off my trailer. Engine has a goofy linkage covering block number (looks like a factory kick down for the auto?), but according to the stamped engine ID number it’s either a 55 265 or 57 283. Both used the “FC” prefix. Has power pac heads. Beingds it has an oil filter, I'm guessing it's the 57 283?
