  2. @alchemy When I was kid; there was a little old guy that had a small machine shop in an old corner grocery. He had a lot of circle track stuff around and could talk up a storm. He was making a V-8 quick change and if I remember right; he said his measurements started with the pinion, a set of Getz (?) change gears, and a Frankland lower shaft and bearings and developed from there. I think he was making hubs and stuff too; he was always machining raw aluminum castings and Buick drums. Showed me his patterns for the hubs and stuff. Used to enjoy going down there and watching, then one day he was gone.

Pull the rear cover and see if it has bearings to support both shafts. Parham used a floating "Dog Bone" with bearings that slipped over the shafts. Mike Moore does his the same way.

Bob Wilson built a bunch of them in the 90's had a devil head on the rear cover and I think he called them speed demons or something like that. It's not really anything super complicated, Alot of Down Home Dirt trackers built them in the 60's do to the Halibrand 201's constantly breaking in midgets and other dirt track cars. Strip down a Banjo rear and Call Nick up at "Hot rod works" and order a lower shaft and a set of change gears and start measuring and Get-er-done!.. LOL You could try and call Bob at wilson welding. Also John Layne built one recently for his original offset roadster clone. PM me if you want his number

I built 5. My own design. Much simple than anyone else. sold 3. 2 in my own hot rods. Sold the jigs/fixtures 6/7 years ago. I don't think the buyer ever built one.

I've never built one from scratch, but I have some pieces that could help a guy get a good start.

Parts for someone that wants to fabricate their own QC. IMG_3928.JPG IMG_3929.JPG IMG_3930.JPG IMG_3931.JPG IMG_3932.JPG .
I believe these are Kolstead (or Kolstadt) from Ohio. The bores are 3 1/2" on center which would enable a guy to use a 10 spline pinion and Champ size change gears. Not for the faint of heart. I would consider selling the castings outright or building a rear up with these pieces, on a time and materials basis.
    PM me if interested.
