That is beautiful!! If you post a direct side profile maybe one of the photoshop wizards can photochop it for you. I’d give it a shot.

Not a great pic and it is a '33 Pontiac, but it is the same body. We took 4 inches out of this one.

if you chop it slant the A pillars..it will save you a lot of cutting and welding , you can drop it straight down and dowel the wood like a model A ...i made steel plates and also bolted the wood together..

A guy near hear chopped one about 1 1/2 in front and 2 in the rear without changing the size of either front or rear glass. Looks great. I think his was a Master though.

  13. In 1933 chev came out with the eagle , later in the year they came out with what most people referred to as the mercury . The eagle became known as a master , and the mercury became the standard . Apparently there is no reference
To gm ever calling the car a mercury , it was referred to as a DC body style
    Master (eagle) 109 inch wheelbase
    Mercury (dc) 107 inch wheelbase
On a master frame the 3rd crossmember is in line with the rear running board brackets and the mercury (DC) crossmember is further back with 2 diagonal braces running to the frame.
Also the (DC) standard the rear running board mounts served as the attachment bracket for the rear spring .

If nobody posts pics of where they cut their Chevy, search for a 33/34 Ford Sedan chop tutorial. The concept and cuts would be very similar in your Chevy.

The biggest issue I see is WOOD .Bow Ties built like stagecoaches , wooden structure until very late ‘36 , and all of ‘37 .

I like the Vannila color as well. It was Cool Vannila last week. I got a weak batch of activator for the single stage and it never dried completely ... had to wash it all down.... 20210625_100845.jpg 20210624_132212.jpg 20210703_195039.jpg 20210703_195234.jpg

Your car would look great with a good chop, BUT there is a lot of wood in those old chevys that is why you don't see to many of them. I would think you have to take the wood around the door and windows out ,chop the steel body and then cut the wood at the joints to fit it all back together BIG JOB with all the wood

  24. Any pictures of back of car and window ?

  25. The wood is just more in the way than having enough metal to weld back together .

  26. Have you seen some of the cars guys put back together here ?? Not much easier to make a nice 33 ford from an old race car with the doors welded shut !!!

The original builder took all the wood out in my car and replaced it with steel already
