Really nice build! I am enjoying your write up. I am going to use your idea to have a “ bench” to set my dash board on while in the car.

Why do it once when you can do it twice at twice the price... My brand new never ran Weiand intake manifold has a crack or pinhole inside the thermostat housing letting coolant seep up through the threaded portion. No warranty because I had it sitting on the shelf for so long. Won't buy another Weiand so I purchased an Edelbrock replacement instead. Good thing is car is now home in my garage... IMG_4988.JPG IMG_4986.JPG IMG_4991.JPG IMG_4984.JPG IMG_4989.JPG IMG_4983.JPG

  5. I would try to repair the Weiand using JB Weld.

Apply it on tip of finger from inside water jacket. If you can find the hole you should be able to patch it.

When dry, use mouth to blow through bolt hole.

    Just my suggestion.

Not even an option. If it doesn't fix the leak immediately or it starts leaking later on then I have to pull it all apart again. I've got better things to do than R&R it a third time.

Car is looking great. Thank you very much for posting. If I could ask a favor, will you show some pictures of how you attach the steering column in your firewall sleeve? My car is much the same and I cannot decide on what I want to do there.

Dale Snyder... Here are some photos of the column. The sleeve welded to the firewall has a 5/16" threaded hole in the side. There is a hole in the steering column so that I can install a short bolt to keep the column from swiveling or sliding up or down. IMG_5011.JPG IMG_5012.JPG IMG_5015.JPG

Will your top be hinged, so the area inside can be used for storage?

The ends needed to be extended 5/8" so the end was flush so when I install the rear firewall panel the metal sits flush. I cut the tubing and added the extension then welded it back together. Ground, filled and painted. Even if it will never bee seen it still has to look nice...

    Hi
Well Groovy I read a few of the posts and after building and team building over 600 cars I can tell you that you have a great project and hope to see you driving it around at meets . I saw a wagon on the background and so what joy you will bring to the little ones and wife always involves herself no matter what they say . Hands down your project is great and it's going to have your signature on it . Advice I have is build it safe comfy and looking good . I really look forward to seeing more posts from you soon and anything you want to ask I am here to help you as much as Roy and his crew over at Union Pacific is . This a grand life and continue on

Kick panels are painted and installed. Glued rubber strips to the back for sound deadening.

IMG_5317.JPG IMG_5316.JPG IMG_5315.JPG IMG_5314.JPG Added a strip to the back of the hood sides. Will trim in a pie shape from 0 to 3/16" at the bottom to get consistent gap. Started header cap behind windshield.

I'm having the same problem with my build, exact same pedal set up and aluminum pads, had to move the brake pedal to the left by cutting the top off where the bolt goes through and weld that part to the arm, gave me almost 1 extra inch of foot space and still clears the column
