Mostly cool, though I don't envy you with the cast iron powerglide..! Many, MANY...years (1967-68'ish) back, my parents bought a 56 Vette. A two owner car. It had a factory dual quad, solid lifter cam engine, and like you say, a VERY rare powerglide (for that combination) trans. I remember that that thing puked fluid out the dipstick tube all the time. It worked ok, just didn't like being "properly" full. No matter who looked at it, the best shops in town weren't able to give a recommendation about having to have a large oil pan under the car after a drive ! Have fun with your new car. Mike
thanks Mike, ......I have a "racing powerglide" I'm going to substitute for the old cast iron glide. Quinton Brothers Racing in Vt. built the glide for me a few yrs. ago. I'll post pics soon....
Yes, envious here, too. Not usually a 'Chevy guy', but that '59 with some front end lowering would look longer than a story!
there not hard to find, the hard part is to be the first one in the owners face with cash in hand. Lost several because somebody walked into the guys shop with cash, then my deal went out the window.....
I hate you....... They might not be hard to find where you live, but they are rare as hen's teeth down this way. All I can find are restored cars selling for a gazillion dollars.
when I bought my 61 11 years ago it ended up being the perfect car to modify because it was a stolen recovered car and has a state of Ariz re assigned VIN. that ruins it for the Corvette people but I didn't care because "stock sucks" Have fun with yours, I sure do have fun with mine....
I'm not a 'stock" kind of guy. I won't modify the original 283 or cast iron glide but that's about it. You have a real nice vette Moriarity.....
Beware of the Arizona sites selling mint corvettes for half the going rate, only can pay by bank wire. Facebook market place Hot rod trading 1972 and under,buy sell or trade Hot rods rat rods &rust buy sell or trade are good Facebook sites to find C-1 vettes check the sites 3-4x daily have $40k cash in your tool box be ready to jump on a plane if need be.... that's how you get a C-1 vette at a good price.....
2345 coupe I did a frame off build on a 1962 vette in my garage with a few tools and little skill I did everything but the paint. Came out looking great. Pretty easy to restore. Parts are not cheap. So far yours is looking good.

My Dad bought the car in 1962. About 3 years ago he gave it to me right before he passed. He got to see me drive off in it and after i made some repairs and killed the mold i was able to take him for one last ride.
I bought this '59 for $1600 in 1964. Sold it a year or 2 later and the guy pulled the small block out and put a 348 in it.
@2345.coupe not that it matters but my vote is to put stock motor/trans to the side and make your car a hot rod with a manual trans. There are plenty vettes that look just like the pictures in the brochure. Don’t butcher it but have fun and go fast(er)
I plan on running the rebuilt 283 with the 2, 4's and my built glide.....paint it "old school" and go from there....
