Locally there is a car show/fireworks display that is one we will attend tomorrow night, last year was cancelled die to the pandemic. looking forward to this one. HRP

  2. I’ll be selling hot dogs at our Church’s July 4th community event and later giving rides to kids in the roadster.

It's 120 here, we sit in the pool or in the house with AC. Hot Rod stuff is over by 9:30 in the morning, coffee and cars on Sunday

Going to the only car show I go to. The Packing House Church 4th of July Car Show. in Redlands, CA (on Monday this year since the 4th is on a Sunday) A real family event. Lots of cars - antiques, HAMB friendly's, and O/T's as well. Old truck displays, valve cover racing, and a cacklefest. Lots of activities for the kids as well. Plus an In and Out Burger truck. No charge to display your car or for spectators either. AND you get a free T shirt when you enter.

We go to a Vets hospital and let the old dudes check out the cars. I took an 80 year old guy who used to build and race 50s and early 60s 406 & 427 Ford Galaxies...He knew his shit about them too.. I took him for a ride in my 69 el Camino 454 th400. He loved it! We went out a ways and I let him drive for a few miles. He nailed it wound first out and hit second. He said those dam Chevys and Pontiacs always had enough torque to pull the statue of Liberty Down!! On the way home, I thought about how much trouble I could of gotten into but God looks out for people who are only trying to do good....

I stopped by the fireworks store with my grandson yesterday and stocked up with the works. So we will be making noise and counting or finger's every once in awhile this weekend!

    Have a safe holiday everybody!

  9. I'm going to the Scrap Drive tomorrow, rescheduled from June 12:

Doing donations to Ovarian cancer. All i can make is a mess, one clever lady gave us these cup cakes. 403620EA-DA32-4D3A-B77A-3953D051ADB0.jpeg

  13. I'll be the DJ for a 50 year HS class reunion (Class of 1971) Saturday night and a neighborhood block party on Sunday evening, so not much time for hot rods this weekend for me.

  14. Wife is still volunteering cooking meals for disaster workers from a flood two weeks ago. She gets Sunday off after serving 70 lunches and dinners a day for the last two weeks. I am hauling garbage and helping with whatever I can. Tomorrow afternoon I am taking the '55 T Bird out to the local Fireman's car show after we get done with lunch. Sunday we are taking it to church for the annual 4th pie and ice cream social before an evening service. Monday, back to disaster assistance.

Cruised downtown in the 51 this evening, visited some friends - tomorrow night I'll be serving as our church throws an annual Independence Day neighborhood party, 300-500 people usually, low key, free BBQ at 6, waterslides and lots of other stuff for kids, 5 of us making many flavors/gallons of ice cream for the event, fireworks show at 9, always a great time and car guys usually bring their rides

Those little pies look fantastic! We call them Hand Pies here. This lady makes and sells them at one of the car cruises we go to up in Wexford Pa.

I had no idea there was flooding there. I know the storms have been very violent this June. I know a lot of people who come to car cruises from your area. This one guy has a Copper colored 62 Bonneville convert. I haven't seen him once this season.. I hope there ok.. My hats off to you for helping out, God Bless you.. You live in the most beautiful state in America...

  18. We have groups here from Kentucky, Pa, and NJ with more coming in next week which will include Ohio and Southern WV. These are all Baptist mission groups and some specialize in; demo, mud out, and treatment. Next week will hopefully finish it all up as far as the clean up and demo. Then the rebuilding starts. It was a very localized area in the hometown of Cameron, Marshall County. At the Annual car show my '55 T Bird took a 1st Place in the Ford and the only other H.A.M.B vehicle took 1st Place for a Chev. Below are the only Ones appropriate for this site. My '55 T Bird.

We're headed north about 20 miles tomorrow to our youngest daughter's small town 4th of July celebration! They haven't had cars as part of the celebration for maybe a decade, and brought it back this year! And my kind of car show, with no entry, or judging. Just had to call to give them my info on the '39 Chev and show up tomorrow.
We really like supporting the small town events, plus a good excuse for a short road trip!!

  20. There was no entry for this show either as it was put on by the VFD and is judged by observers. What they like is what wins. Donations only help support the VFD. Ford, Chevy, Mopar, Trucks, and Fire mans choice, were the categories. No points or nit picking, just a fan vote.

All went very well ,even decent weather for mid winter. about 25 club cars and 50 folks visited a retirement village . I did not do the remainder of the run but scurried back home to finish smoking the butterfly chicken . Did a 10 hour smoke yesterday on brisket and pork . 14hrs in total .We raised nearly $300 for Ovarian cancer.

A friend and I did Scrap Drive yesterday. Tonight, my 37 will be at home while I’m looking out at a scene like this.

    70E61513-564E-4F48-B6E6-236463DBD3C9.jpeg

We’re doing a selection of patriotic favorites, classic marches, the 1812 Overture, and pop tunes. There will be fireworks, lots of fireworks. Sitting inside the shell, they launch from right behind us, so we hear the “thump” of the launch, see the flash of the explosion reflected off the crowd, then hear the “boom”, all while attempting to watch the director, and hear each other. It’s quite spectacular, and few places still do live music with their fireworks.

  29. Cruised the T Bird this morning taking the wife to church after which we watched the annual Parade. Dropped the top and drove home. This afternoon we have the annual church ice cream social and another service.
