Really curious as of the cause. I see pics like that and think of those threads about front axles snapping...

That is sad, it’s hard to tell what happened there, the front axle looks intact but separate from the car to some extent.

Really hard to tell from one picture.
He may have even had a medical event that caused him to go off the road.

Very sad. I wonder whether the width and offset of front wheels had much to do with it? Scrub radius etc..

  13. Sad news indeed. Another hot rod brother lost.:( Please be careful out there guys.

I am thinking a medical event as well. A friend of mine and his wife died in an accident 25 years ago when he had a heart attack, crossed the median and hit a vehicle head on.

We will all leave this earth one day. At least he was enjoying his hot rod at the time of his departure from earth.
RIP brother hot rodder. May his family have strength and peace through this hard time.

Sad indeed especially when he was close to my age.
Still it is a prime example of why the BS of "I don't wear seat belts in my roadster because I don't want to be strapped in in a roll over" don't really fly as the chance of a roll over is way less than the chance of a crash where you are thrown out to land on who knows what.
The body shell nor the windshield on that car did not suffer any damage in the wreck that would have caused injury to the driver, meaning that if he was strapped in he would most likely be stiff and sore but sheepishly explaining to the officers as to why he crashed.
I've had three times in my life when seat belts absolutely saved my life, Twice in helicopter crashes that I walked away from with minor scratches and once when a garbage truck rear ended me at 40 mph while I was stopped and shoved me into a Johnson barrier.

I’m sorry to read this. But I can’t believe some one on here does not know who this car belongs to. Some one or ones out there mourning and others want to debate safety equipment? Show some compassion. We don’t know how it happened or why.

If we’re honest, having done this stuff our entire lives, every one has had something break or discovered something about to break and thought “man I was so lucky! This could have been really bad”. But as stated earlier that’s not what matters now

  25. What matters here is , this man lost his life, maybe no fault of his own. I do not know, but that does not matter. A tragedy. Prayers for his family loved ones. and friends. Shit happens, and sometimes in a split second, It has happened to me as well, fortunately I'm still here.
