Air cleaner says 390 4V right on top.

But it could be anything from a 332 to a 428.

here's another style, also not exactly the same, but similar...this one does not have the coolant passage in the adapter.

The mystery engine appears to have separate parts for the head and valley cover

LS, the tell-tale is the coolant crossover from passenger head to driver side with modern one bolt holdown.

  9. That’s a lot of trouble to disguise an LS. Would be easier to just leave the hood shut. However, I can appreciate the effort.

Griots had an amazing Iso at SEMA in 2019, it was beautiful, I couldn’t stop looking at it till the guy popped the hood and the Lame-Same engine just killed the whole thing!

Saw this at the NSRA show in Springfield Mo last month, it's in a bumpside Ford pickup. Don't care for an LS in a hot rod but this one is done very, very well.

Fooled me at first glance. I might have something similar in a daily driver (with the Police package). It’s an absolute beast.

    New looking old/the part.
You can trip over those engines in pick and pull places, not a lot of early SBCs out in the open anymore.
But the builder may have just said “I have the skills and time to pull this off”.
Pretty neat when a few knowledgeable guys are a bit stumped, don’t you think?

Are the coil packs feeding a fake distributor?

I was wondering too, based on the distributor body hanging out like it is. Whatever was done was well hidden!

I have no idea what's going on here except to suspect that it is veeery off-topic for this forum.

I don't see it either: making one pushrod V8 look like another pushrod V8. If it were a lot of cleverness devoted to phantoming up a HAMB-era engine that never was out of something like a Subaru flat-4 it would be a different matter, especially if it went through to carbs, distributor, etc.

  25. I think it’s neat , if he took it a step further and got rid of the serpentine belt system it would fool a bunch more.

while not traditional a nice execution!

There are several distributer kits available for the LS..you can look up images and see a LS with a carb on a high rise, distributer and a smooth valves covers looks right at home in a hot rod..You could tell guys here it's a 64 experimental engine and they be saying how cool it is....And you absolutely can not get more power for less bucks than the LS

There are distributor kits for LS engines and carb manifolds. So it makes them about as good as any old engine. The electronics and fuel injection make the LS work. That is the reason most use them. The ease of computer tuning.
That being said, they are not my choice.

That is one of the original Pro Stock Engineering adapter plates from "Pro Stock Paul" Bedoian to allow use of a 351C-4V intake on an FE. I have one of these, and a couple of the modern FE Power versions. They can be had with different cooling passage options, and to match the different head setups, LR, MR, HR, whatever you want. Nice as you can easily swap between a 1x4 and 2x4TR without getting into water n oil. "Pro Stock Paul" was quite a character, this was undoubtably his best effort- some of his stuff was eh...
