Hello,

When we were in the throes of our hot rod/drag racing adventures, there were more powerful cars available to the general public. But, for the strangest reason, we did not see very many of these powerful Super Stock Dodge/Plymouth Sedans cruising around the streets. Noting that most of the street, custom cars we saw and owned were Chevrolet sedans. At least it was that way in our Bixby Knolls area and most parts of the South LA County area and the western end of Orange County.

The place we did see them was once at Harvey’s Broiler and several times at Lion’s Dragstrip. Our take on owning those big, powerful Dodge/Plymouth sedans was that they were so noisy from those huge motors, that it may have affected the occupants inside, even with rolled up windows. Some said it was because those Dodge/Plymouth sedans weren’t as well built as the Chevy sedans. (don’t have a hissy fit…)

Yes, they had their battles with the big 409s/and 427s later on, but still they were non-existent on the daily driver streets.

The one place I recently saw this pristine Dodge Sedan was at the Price Transfer Automobilia Group’s massive display of 1950s-60s cars down the endless rows of automobiles. There, it did not look out of place and held its head high among the other high performance factory cars.
