This is my 4th '58 Impala since '62.
Had it for 20 years but I'll putting it up for sale soon. I'm just too old to finishing it.

Hello,

In this A/Stock car class elimination race, a Pontiac gets the jump on everyone. It looks bad for me in the 58 Impala. But, I kept my foot to the floor and for some reason, pulled in front as we entered the finish line. It was one of the closest races that I had.

In the next round, a blue 57 Buick (no, it was not my dad’s blue 57 Buick) took the lead at the start. This guy was well known in So Cal drag racing circles. He was experienced and learned how to get a good start. I am sure I was asleep at the starting line.

But, I was very lucky to have caught the blue Buick at the finish line and won. Two close calls and that was it. For the next several weeks, I was practicing at every stop light to get a jump. I learned the “off yellow, stomp the pedal,” scenario that gave the green light start one quick moment for the lead.

The silver rims on the Impala designated that I was the driver. By this time, I painted the wheels silver and had my driver’s license. My brother took these films, that day.
