For many years I have attended the Shades of the Past show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee but just got burned out with the same old same old. I have always enjoyed going to the Smokey Mountains in the fall and this year we are making plans to attend The Cherokee Rodders fall show on October 15 & 16, they just posed the registration form. That’s a great area. Stayed overnight there many years ago when the girls were young, always wanted to go back. Thanks for the info.
Every year we drove through Cherokee on our way to Pigeon Forge, back when the Southeastern Deuces met at the Shades of the Past, Nathan use to host a Thursday evening party & dinner at the El Camino Motel in Cherokee, first time I had ever tasted elk and bear. I especially like the idea of being in October, the weather is so much cooler. HRP
Danny, I have been to this show a few years back. I might come out from Middle Tennessee in the OT - Daily driver. October is a beautiful time to be up in the mountains. Thanks for the information..
Stopped in Cherokee for the night on our way from Raleigh to Knoxville this spring. For those going/staying for this event there’s a casino (duh!) and we had a decent meal at Paul's Family Restaurant, might want to check it out.
Went up that way,a few times for vactions, camping with my tent in Pisgah National Forest. Long-a-go. Very pretty. Sliding rock was a blast ! Tryed to combind going to a number of places, pre trip! https://www.romanticasheville.com/sliding_rock_north_carolina.htm
Dana, I have been to sliding rock many times when I was younger, our girls loved it. I plan on taking in the Wheels through Time in Motorcycle Museum in Maggie Valley on Thursday. HRP
Thanks for the heads up, Danny. I usually forget this until I see coverage pics. Only 120 miles for me. The drive through the Park from G’burg to Cherokee is always nice.
Gary, we are about the same distance, October is the perfect time to enjoy the sights & smells in the Smokys. HRP
I've been through Cherokee many times but usually stopped for gas and thought I need to spend some time here. I'm going to try and make the show this year.
John, I talked to our pal Earl Saturday night at EL Patrons and he is skipping Pigeon Forge this year and going to Cherokee, Dave is also talking about going. Hopefully it doesn't snow like it did the first time Brenda and I went, it was weird waking up to snow flurries and a couple of inches of snow, especially driving a roadster with no top and no heat, unfortunately the sun came out and it warmed up to the low 50's. Charles the president of the Cherokee Rodders club is the fellow that bought my old 32 5 window, still looks the same. HRP
