That needs to be sitting in a Hershey or other large Swap Meet space setup to record all the comments, the video sale would make someone rich.

my guess: it was stripped for restoration. blasted, dipped, whatever, only to discover it was, at the time, a hopeless rustbucket not worth restoring. it got shoved outside, and scavanged for parts for other nomads that are still with us. this carcass was picked clean, yet it's still not done giving up parts.

  10. In my 20s [1972 or 73] I worked for G&L auto salvage in ElCajon, Cal. Just inside the gate we had a complete 55 nomad with no paint on it and $500 was lettered on the windshield. It was meant as a joke because Steve [the owner] knew nobody in their right mind would really spend 500 bucks for a rusty nomad. And nobody did.

I have pissed away more on less. I buy a car or parts just to loose money I don’t have. I buy a car and immediately there is some financial crisis in the world. No matter make model or year. I could loose money on a freshly restored Bloomington Gold quality, 53 Corvette given to me for free. And even I would have to take a hard pass on that.

I’d buy it and I’d be all giddy about owning a nomad. Why lie.

Man, I paid 1000$ for just a Nomad roof, and it was only a bit better than that one!

Could you imagine what your wife would say if you brought that home for $200?

Buy it, do a little work on it to get it going in the right direction and then sell it. The next guy along with the next next guy, will do the same until it starts looking like a Nomad. This is not a project for one person.

Its best path forward to becoming a real car again would be as a drag car. Glass nose and doors and it will start to look like something again. It will still require a donor car but at least you won’t be caught up in a god awful money pit of a restoration.

  18. Exactly! My son was just given an OT El Camino that is torn apart but a nice body overall. If it were to be a nice restored car, it would nickel and dime him to death. But, since he wanted a race car anyway, it is the perfect start.

And you could save a lot of money on "trim", by building it as a Nomad Sedan Delivery.

Very rare car, not many had air conditioning. .......Like this one.

I would mount it on top of my shop and be the talk of the town.

If that $200 shell landed in Australia there would be some proud soul bragging about how they had scored a Namad for two grand !

I showed my post to the wife tonight and commented on the number of likes it received and all she said was: They haven't seen the junk you bring home.

Dang, maybe that’s why I can only refer about mine as “ the ex”.
