A tappet is a cam follower or lifter today. A rocker is still a rocker or rocker arm.
Maybe the “dizzy” guys say it’s an up-n-down..

To add to confusion- So where does a Rocker panel live?
I worked in the electrical field for many years, you could tell the auto blokes from the electronic techs, as they were the only ones to call an automotive capacitor a "condensor". "Condensor" was replaced by "Capacitor" in electronics in the mid '60's, roughly when they started making transistorised equipment and were phasing out (here's another British term-) "valves" (or vacuum tubes if you are anywhere else in the world).

Sure can :p. Though for the Holden guys, it was usually not called a hood ornament. Normally referred to as a bonnet budgie.

This one kind of makes me smile. Not really a misnomer or misnamed... just a slight variation. And actually quite fitting.

I actually did a little digging on this motor/engine controversy a few months ago. Apparently an electric motor is a motor but an engine can be a motor, It has to do with intended function.

I would say 'rear valence panel, under bumper'. What is this called in the US ???

I worked on EH Holdens when doing my panelbeating apprenticeship in the early seventies and you phoned the Holden parts place up and ordered a beaver panel because that was what Holden called them.

  28. It seems Holden also called hoods hoods.:)

Haha, funny how that made sense to me.He may have had bavarian or austrian ancestors. A real BFH is called a "Schlegel" here. Like in " Hand me the Schlegel!"
