    Hello,

There is currently a trend of those huge Dodge/Benz “Sprinter” panel vans taking over the old VW vans and Ford/Chevy vans of the early 60s for daily use and family camping, here on the Westcoast. ($200k worth each) It seemed a rarity at first, but with the limitation on travel or resort stays, more are finding outdoor vacations a better place to be in these crazy times.

We used to just hit the road with our custom interior vans for some places that would offer days of primo waves for the week. Anytime a Southern Hemisphere Tropical Disturbance hit the Eastern Pacific Coast, that was the impetus to check the weather maps and plan out where we were going to go surfing those head high plus waves.

These days, we can see plenty of those tall Dodge/Benz Sprinter Vans and their high dollar interior capsules heading South for some outdoor vacation spots.

But what if a couple of teenagers got their hands on an old 1929 Ford Panel Delivery Van/Truck for some customizing? The tall structure was just too large to fit in those low hanging, bumpy jungle roads that led to “secret spots.” So, a mild chop would do the trick. Then, of course upgraded running gear and a SBC motor. One would think that why an SBC motor?

All over the world, VW mechanics and Chevy/Ford mechanics are doing great work at their local cities and towns. So, if we were far away, it was just a short hop back into civilization to get something fixed if we could not do the work ourselves. Every city/country has excellent mechanics.

Perhaps, the bright yellow color could use some toning with a mild color for blending into the country/beach cliff side. But, for art’s sake a bright color palette is much better for showcasing the mods.

Back in 1960-62, we had an emergency with a Ford Econoline and one of the VW vans. A short chugging trip into town and the local mechanic took a couple of days to replace and fix the problems. So, since those times, we were always grateful for the mechanical training those guys got from someplace.

Jack, I'm impressed that you're so secure in your talent and generous enough
to offer it up to those who might be able to use it for flyers, etc. It's damn good.

Thanks for the kind words Mitch.

With the exception of the my cartoons that were published in Street Rodder Magazine, most of my artwork here was for flyers and/or T-shirts...and was "one use only".

It just seemed a shame, after one use, that it was just wasting away in my porfolio...some of it for 40+ years. That's the reason I offer it up for free use...maybe someone can use it and give it a second life...several folks have...and I'm honored to have them use it:D
