    Hello,

Having a powerful telephoto lens on our old 35mm film cameras was pretty cool. I could stand on a shoreline and shoot photos of my friends out in the water, riding waves. When we went to the harbor, our friends with boats always liked photos in action out on the Pacific Ocean. Then, I could unscrew the long lens and put on several shorter lenses for close up and detail work. But, the long lens and full size 35mm film camera was good but bulky, compared to today’s small format, digital cameras. (that actually fit in jacket pockets with ease)

We have gone through plenty of small 35mm film cameras over the years. But with our experiences with the early digital upright cameras to the sleek, thin, versions, to the final powerful high-quality lens and megapixels makes taking photos fun, again. Leica and Zeiss are two names synonymous with high quality lenses for old film cameras and now are in digital forms.

Driving around with a long telephoto lens + a high MP count on a real digital camera has its advantages. There is no need for a large size digital camera as the power and precision of the smaller digital camera come in handy, just when you need an advantage or two in photo shoots. No need to walk up to the feature hot rod parked, from a distance, a good still shot is usually good, even from a distance.

The telephoto lens will allow clear digital photos, but there are final distance limitations for clarity. So, one must experiment with what works and doesn’t infringe on others.

This old truck body was sitting on a moving platform with the looks of getting ready for the final fit and finish assembly. I thought I had missed out on the running gear, but as I moved around, I saw a tarp covered, rolling chassis that looked to be a good fit for the newly modified truck cab. Perhaps, if I am in the general area again, I will see the assembly and rolling truck on the street.

Just as a back up, I used the telephoto lens with the new Android phone. It came out fine, but not as clear and as precise as the slightly larger, but more powerful digital camera. Plus, the phone and the small digital camera slipped right back into my jacket pocket easily.

No intrusion photos made the day go by much better and enjoyable. Yes, I did find the offices and warehouse of what building I was attempting to find, they were two streets over in a completely different industrial complex… Close, but not quite… As one friend reminded me a long time ago, “CLOSE only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.”

    Hello,

This Ford F-100 truck has it quite nice in his almost permanent parking place. When we venture down to the oceanfront cliff drive near the pier, this truck has a ring side seat to see the huge waves coming in last week. Then it sees the visitors walking across the street to take a nice stroll on the pier.

Finally, it is like a monument in its parking place. We have seen it several times as my wife and I check out the ocean and feel better about the pandemic situation. Others must be in the same boat as the mask wearing public is walking around and dining in outdoor restaurants that line the street, facing the ocean and jutting pier.

Either the owner lives in one of the nice apartments/condos on that side of the street or he/she gets there early enough to secure this prime oceanfront parking place. He/she might even work at or own one of the several restaurants the line this portion of the street.

It is a nice way to observe the calming effect of the ocean and a cool truck at the same time. A digital camera in a point and shoot mode, with a timed “drive by” action. I took two shots and they both came out during a moving motion to keep up with the flowing local traffic.
