Can you afford to loose about 10 HP on a flathead? That's about 10%.

Nope. 60+ amps is only about 1hp on 12v. 1%.

BJR, Thanks for your input. Running AC will take away from a source that is already low? But living in an area where AC is needed six months ayear is questionable.

Most of the sites I have looked at say an ac uses about 10 HP.

Sorry, I was referring to alternator load. Agree on AC load. 10HP sounds about right to me.

Hardly any belt wrap around those alt pulleys with air.

I can't figure out why you guys make such a big deal out of what few horsepower it takes to run a small Sanden Air compressor. If he needs what little extra power the AC takes he can always turn the AC off.

That shoebox weights about 500 lbs more than my 130 hp Prism GSI did and while you knew the ac compressor had kicked in it didn't drag that little banger down much.

These new compressors don't take near the power that those Delco A-6 units did. With one of those he might have an issue.

Thanks for all the input. I think I was hoping that one of us can recommend a manufacture making the Alt/ Ac brackets.
