Here is another pic. The original color is on the aluminum plate. Looks like he got the match pretty good. 640649826.jpeg

Should pick up the front tomorrow. Here are pics he sent me. He made it look like the lettering and stripes are old. Anxious to get it back on the car. 1049.jpeg 1050.jpeg 1051.jpeg 1052.jpeg

Well I realized today would have been my Dad's 82nd birthday. I think he would be glad to see the old BB back on once piece and all the same color. It finally looks like it should. Jeff did a great job saving this front and I really thought I would be OK with it unpainted but I soon realized it just didn't look like it should by not being yellow. It is a great day to finally call it done.

BTW.. I am moving once again. I took a job in Memphis and start there on Monday. Got to look for another place to move into with a shop AGAIN!! It wouldn't let me "Super Like" your post Rusty. Great to see the car together again! Hope the move works out well for you and your family.

I found a place in Mississippi. Have a buyer for my Texas place. Need to close on both and move. Sold Homegrown today. Guy is keeping it DGas. He is only a couple hours away in south Kentucky. New job is great. Bad news is the new place has no real shop. I'll have to build one. Plan to get started right away. Luckily the Bad Banana is done and in one piece. It's easier to move that way..

Hate to see you have to build a shop now with lumber prices going out of sight. Steel is the same way so can't build a steel building without breaking the bank. Good luck and safe moving.

Stumbled on this photo on the tri-five Chevy thread, thought you might like it.
    Appears to be a sedan.

I've never seen that car before. Goes to show how much of the old racing history was never recorded very well. And every day we lose more and more of it as all these old racers die off.. Sad.

I raced Unlimited 2-cycle sprint karts on dirt. I'll have to try to find a pic. Won't be HAMB friendly though..

Been real busy moving again. I am officially out of Texas. Bad part is I have no shop now. I packed everything into the attached garage and my trailer for now. I am going to build my dream shop. Won't be very exotic but I am going to take all the things I liked about all the shops I have worked in and put them into this one. The pic is where it will be. Gonna be the last one... I swear...lol

I'm guessing you're going to be clearing a few trees?

  29. Spent the last month reading this thread from start to finish. Incredible story, impressive work, and was really glad to see your father get to experience the bad banana again before his passing. Well done!
