there is actually a couple different shades of washington blue used on different year fords. I suggest you pick a color you like, that is close, that the parts store can make. solid color, like 70's toyota had a dark blue, and the same with early volvos. some of the new fiats and mini coopers are solid color, no metalics

The old Dupont Centari code was 2063AH for the GW blue used by Roadway Express for years.

I posted regarding this a few weeks ago. I painted my TR6 Saphire Blue. I looked under the garnish moulding in my '32 5W and compared and they are like 99.98% dead on. The paint code from British Leyland is 96 or 98 . I used PPG Shopline.

This is BASF RM Uno single stage acrylic urethane in Washington Blue, nothing to do with George. :D

In my research and comparisons with other paints that Isuzu Cavalier is close but not close enough.

I tried spraying a sample of that Cavalier blue and when I sprayed a sample 12"x12" piece of sheet metal with epoxy primer on it, it was in no way as deep and rich in the color as compared to the UNO I used.

Previous to that based on information like yours I had Tim McMaster use it to spray my Y Block before he crated it up for me.

It looks good on a screen or picture but I was not happy with the color, it's paler than it should be and it ended up being a great base coat for my Uno.

Little too much red for me but it could be the computer screen screwing up the real color.. If it's the same color as the Dark Blue that came on 49-51 Mercury's I'm game...

  15. Can the OP please check in and remove George from the title so 10 years from now we don't have to deal with folks asking for the wrong thing?!?!?!

o_O No, no it’s not. Ford did not use anything like that for their factory paint color names.
Washington blue is a Ford factory color for a variety of years in the 30s and 40s .

I prefer Denzel Washington blue, a shade darker, but much cooler.

Look in the commercial colors, Roadway Express used George Washington blue on their trucks from 1931 to 2004. And yes it was a Ford color since their first trucks were AA model Fords.

  28. You are partially correct but that version of the color is only to be used on hot rods "built out of whatever you have" Just like the 50s bro, tm,.
