Running three-twos on my avatar. Once the throttle plates on the end carbs were sealed correctly it has been adjustment and trouble free. I try and make sure I 'exercise" the end carbs at least once every time I take it for a spin. Just for medicinal purposes only of course:D

Two old school AFB’s on an otherwise stock 383 in my ‘64 Chrysler rag top.
Drive nice, other then the top end power you wouldn’t know the difference between them and the two barrel they replaced.

My T had 2 carburetors since I built it in 1962, never any problem.

  4. 3 two barrel Holleys on my 390 FE. It runs well and reasonably strong. It's a little fussy on the gas it gets. It loves premium, :) but not stale premium. The gas doesn't get a chance to get stale in the car but the odd time I'll get some at a gas station that doesn't sell enough premium to keep it fresh. :( If I'm unsure  I put regular in it but I don't like the alcohol content in regular. It's pretty dependable ... but experience has taught me to keep a power valve in the trunk.

I'm thinking about 2 94s for the '50 now.

If you get along well with carburetors , the more , the merrier . If you can't get along with one carb , multiplies won't be any better .

I have 2x4 edlebrocks on my avatar. A pair of 550 cfm Thunder series that work great and when I had my Desoto hemi in my 27 T I ran 6x2 Holley 94s for almost 12 years.

I, like Noel, ran triple SU carbs on a 6cyl GMH and now run 2x4s on my FE Fairlane with a progressive linkage. My 46 Olds will eventually run 6 x Strombergs. :D

  10. Everything that is HAMB friendly has multiple carbs. Got dual fours on my 33 Pickup, they have been on there for over 25 years with never a hiccup. The 55 Chevy has tri power with progressive linkage and the thing rips and runs great. Then Taboo has 6x2's and its runs well enough. Car is a trailer baby/show car so it runs good enough to unload and move to its show spot and back. Did cruise it once at Goodguys and it ran great. It will occasionally foul a plug from all the idling it does.

Inline sixes virtually cry out for multiple carbs.

Mine is a vintage Holley Pro Dominator from the 70's with twin 450 cfm Holley carbs. Since this intake only allows sideways mounting, I couldn't run the two 1850 Holley 600 cfm vacuum secondary carbs I wanted to run. So the 450's were purchased new, but have been apart several times since new to do numerous changes to get them to work well.
Because these 450's have mechanical secondaries, but not secondary accelerator pump, they do fine mashing the throttle, but didn't work well when gradually opening the throttle. To eliminate stumbling on secondary throttle opening I had to swap on 50cc accelerator pumps, and upsize the nozzles. Also some rejetting to make it run better at freeway speeds, and of course power valve changes too.

The setup runs pretty good now, but I've toyed with adapter plates and switching to a pair of big Holley 2 barrel carbs to maybe improve drivability even more. Just hope they don't hurt dragstrip performance.

427 Fords, so of course 2x4s. I do have several fairly nice 3x2s, will probably sell some and keep one, for the 406 car. Ford actually scienced out the carbs for the different incarnations of the 427. The "C" LR carbs were actually 2 of the 1x4 carbs, only ones with 2 chokes, IIRC about 540 cfm. 652s, 715s, and 780s. A pair of #1850 600s will work quite well with just some power valve and jetting tinkering. The LR 2x4 runs pretty well and good for hood clearance, the MR 2x4 is a very good manifold, stronger but taller than the LR. The Tunnel Wedge is next level, less bottom end but strong on top. Tunnel Port and High Riser stuff has to match the different head designs. 3x2 has decent power with great looks

I'm running dual 2 barrel 2GC's with progressive linkage on the 283 in my A pickup. Old carbs rebuilt by @dickster27 (who put together the full package for me). It really runs good, much stronger than the stock single 2 barrel engine, when the secondary carb kicks in the motor really responds, though it does need some RPM's before kicking it in, I can't just mash my foot to the floor from low speed or it will stumble. Careful modulation with the foot feed is the trick, and a quick downshift also helps.

When I was a kid bagging at the super market and bringing the bags out to the shopper's car I saw a hot rod (don't know what type) with a open engine bay with a engine with a blower and on top 6 carbs. So I hung around until till the owner came out. When he saw me he said, "are you guarding my car or planning on stealing something off it". I replied, "no sir (I was only 14 at the time), I just wanted to see this thing start up". So he reach in through the window, inserted the key and fired it up, just like that. He must of saw how impress I was and gave me a ride to the front door of the supermarket.

Muliple carburetion has been in use for years. You just have to be smarter than the carburetion. :)

Tri-power on a 348 Chevy. My first multiple set up. After a few tweaks with accelerator pumps and the progressive linkage (not using the factory vacuum operated linkage) it seems to run great. I only have 600 miles on it though. I’m a tinkerer - this will work even if its hard to do (which it has not been so far).

I like to get new fuel in the end carbs on each drive - as others have pointed out. Thus far I’ve only been driving locally, so nothing but ethanol-free to date!
