History Pre-Streamline Art Deco coachwork

  1. More of Sonia Delaunays handywork.
Anyone man enough to put one of these paint jobs on their car....?

  6. I wonder if these were ever built, or were just proposals from the coachbuilder?
The Amilcar would have been a very imposing design.

^^^^^I like the solid color on the one in the middle, the other two just highlight the unusual fenders. Bob

Ned, thank you for starting this thread, and glad Ryan has allowed it to stay. Just noticed how long it has been since you posted today, four years is a long time. Bob

An unknown car photographed at the 1933 Monaco Concours d'Elegance:

Edit: subsequent research suggests that it probably wasn't photographed at the abovementioned event. Total mystery, therefore.

In the course of trying to fix some links (e.g. here) I came across this 1921 Heine-Velox limousine:

I particularly like the wooden trim to the fenders. For some reason the car reminds me of a Bohmerland motorcycle:

This car is superb, it's close to a car I designed and want to build some day... But mine uses the alligator hood from a Renault.
This car seems big, with a kind of squarish grille like that no mascot and low roof line, I'd be tempted by Delage.

    Hello, Dawie!
Nice photo of interesting design. Somebody wanted to be different and managed that, "improving" already good design. Is that some Dusenberg used as a base?
With a big and powerful motor, speeds around 100-120 km/hour (60-70 mph) - aerodynamic wasn't as important as appearance? Gasoline/benzin was cheap and people having such cars were rich.
For sure that this couple could attract attention wherever appears, with or without this automobile...

    Regards, take care,
    Zoran
P.S.: Nice serial of posting here...

Those don't look like Dues wheels to me. With those hood vents, it could be a 1931 Cadillac. The Old Motor identified it as a '31 V12. The body styling is a mishmash of various production pieces, so it could be one of any number of chassis options. Here's a front view:
    Unmarried.jpg
Old Cars Weekly identified it as a publicity photo for the 1939 movie 'Unmarried' with Buck Jones and Helen Twelvetrees, but asked readers to identify the car.
P.S. Good to see you posting here, Zoran.

Figoni Bignan.jpg The very first coachwork by Giuseppe Figoni, on a 1924 Bignan chassis. Figoni would, of course, go into partnership with Ovidio Falaschi in 1935.

I like the car. But anyone what puts a Lalique ornament on a decent car is a war criminal.

You think Lalique mascots should be used only on indecent cars?
