With all this warm weather we've had lately I've hardly missed a day not driving one of my old cars! I make some excuse to go get something, or go somewhere just to drive one!

  2. Did a few repairs to my old girl today ,changed the oil.Ran a new gas line from the tank to the fuel pump . Had to run the new line higher than the tank as it was if I forgot to turn off the gas the gravity feed would fill the crankcase of the engine . Any how took her out for a 100 mile drive tonite and worked great . Hadn't been out for a couple of years . V8 60 hp car 20210518_205651.jpg

Took my Coupe DeVille to the first local Show & Shine Sunday , Afterwards blew a freeze plug down the street from my house . So today I found the missing plug was directly behind the Steering Box , very little room to work , so I ended up with a Expandable Rubber replacement , fixed for now . But freeze plugs will be on the list of things to worry about . IMG_1078.JPG

Man, blowing a freeze plug, that's an oddity. Repaired that in plenty of ski boats, but never a car.

    Yeah, that caddy is beautiful.

I finished my crossmember, making room for the exhaust to run through it. Also finished hooking the gas line up. That is complete to the fuel pump. studebaker build 004.JPG studebaker build 006.JPG

Yeah, IME they tend to corrode over time and start leaking, usually right when it's the worst time for it to happen.

Mine is, "what did I do with my car all week." Spent the week at Beech Bend raceway. Swapped in my new "Dice Performance Converters" (shameless plug) torque converter before we left. Tuesday evening I ruined a perfectly good 55' Texas plate on my 3rd pass when I did a bumper dragging wheelstand. Needed some new shorts after that one. IMG_20210513_110448933_HDR.jpg Played with the launch all week and had an absolute blast. Went from mid 10's to low 10's and picked up 6 mph. Didn't touch another thing. 60 ft. went from 1.48 to 1.41 tripping the 60 with the rear wheels. It sure is fun when you make a change to your car and it pays off big time. From what the last 1/8th mile numbers were (6.38), might have a 9 second pass in this thing. 24627~3.jpeg 24841~2.jpeg 24806~4.jpeg

  15. Re-installed the 12-leaf front spring, now with reversed eyes, on my '29 AA. I broke the main leaf trying to re-bend to reverse the eyes, so I asked Atlas Spring in Wichita to make me a new main leaf and reverse the eyes. They did a great job, at far less cost than I expected and the turn-around was less than a week. I highly recommend these guys!

Winched the '39 Olds into the garage and returned the U Haul trailer. Am going to have to buy a scissor lift.

Looked at it. It really needs gas, but can't risk the ride to the nearest gas station only to find out they're empty, which I sure as shit will be on the return trip! I'll have to import some from out of town.

I'm ready to throw this exhaust in the trash. I really need to make a halfway decent welding workspace. I'm outside hunched over like quasi moto trying to weld this shit together....I guess that's why they invented grinders

Exhaust is about the only thing I take to someone else. Lack of lift and pipe bender really. There is a good local guy who let's me help and does fantastic work.

I've never owned anything they make a bolt on exhaust kit for...so I cant comment there

I bought the lake style header kit, but I have a tendency to get a little impatient

  23. Now-a-days, I usually tack exhaust things together with the wire feed then take them off and gas weld them. When they are on the bench; you can turn them all around for easy welding.

  24. My coupe's battery didn't survive the winter, so thought as long as I had it out, I would modify a boat battery box into an enclosure and then added a ABS cover.

Also made my version of Henry's trunk divider board. Need to pull it later and paint it black like an original piece.

Package shelf will be one of the next additions and maybe the right '35-'36 back window handle.

Worked on fitting a new hinge to my buddy's trunk before it goes to the trimmer for covering.

He brought his just buffed out '33 over from the other garage so we can fix the fake neck so the radiator cap sits at the right angle. IMG_20210519_192109_1.jpeg IMG_20210521_150618.jpeg IMG_20210521_150343.jpeg IMG_20210517_144134.jpeg IMG_20210520_142332.jpeg

Small parade, 3 laps around a local assisted living facility. My mother in law was glad to see us. On the memory care side of the building, an old guy (that is relative - I'm 76) in a wheel chair was giving us the fist pump (honk the air horn). Got a big smile and wave when I honked and waved at him (Ford F150 horns from the too-good-to-throw-out pile).

No pictures, my custom Volvo was posted a few times. One HAMB era car, a 1946 Oldsmobile coupe - stone stock - 6 cylinder (never overhauled) - delivered with no heater and no radio.

The Chrysler 300 was a new years too new.

Several of us had relatives in this facility. We got lots of smiles and waves.

    Russ

p.s. My somewhat OT shop truck has a real air horn. If I honked that, the stall would be cleaning up for hours...
