Hey gang. I live in Truckee, CA and I'm looking for recommendations on a really good machine shop to refurbish the heads on my late 70's Ford 460. Also need them to take a look at the block/cylinders to determine if it can be refurbished. Any recommendations?

When I was in the Army and stationed between Reno and Susanville in the 70's Lassen Motor Parts in Susanville, CA built a SBC for an old POS Chevy Carryall I had. They did excellent work but I don't know anything about them now. But they are still in business which to me says something. They are a Napa store now so I don't know if they have a machine shop or not. If they don't they might be about to recommend a good shop. If you can't find a shop in Reno it might be worth a call. FWIW they seem to have good reviews on line.

Give Miller's Chop Shop a call (775) 674-2211 or Al's Rod & Custom (775) 358-3673. Both are in Sparks just down the street from Summit. Either should be able to take care of you.

It's been years since I needed any engine machining done, but many years ago, AIMs, in sparks redid the heads on my 460, and did a good job. Can't vouch for their current quality, but I was pleased back then
