BT A coupe purchase day way back in 1974 by bt34 posted Jul 3, 2009 at 5:29 AM bt A coupe 1974 purchase day by bt34 posted Jul 3, 2009 at 5:29 AM A few more pic's. Sorry fellers but the pic's are in no particular sequence. Coming out of the loft storage. John Lee the wiring expert & Model A owner (& 39 Chevy sedan) 2 into 1 exhaust. Darryl Christensen did the panel work. Chassis was sprayed with enamel paint, outside spray booth. Body paint is lacquer. Outside booth... Perfect. Basic suspension, zero flash around here.
More pic's not in order... The article is about the coupe way back in 1966. Jammin Gears magazine #48. The grill mesh is from a flyscreen door. The painter, Poo alias Glen Keighley in full safety gear. He had to wait 39 years before he could paint the body.
In 1967 I left school and started work and about that time I decided that I really wanted a Model A coupe. I finally purchased the coupe body in 1974. Through the years the parts were purchased & the interior bracing done along with panel work along with putting it together a number of times. It has had an orginal 32 chassis under it and then 2 aftermarket versions along with a 94 TPI Vette engine but a couple of acquaintances of mine kept bitching and moaning about me building "just another bloody Kiwi built hot rod with no theme and NOT being period correct" (kind of). This is when the "Hatched in 1967" dream started good and proper. I unloaded the 32 junk (all nice stuff) bit the bullet and the A chassis was reunited with a 283ci/th350 and the build stepped up a notch to where it is now. I have had a fair bunch of hotrods etc thru the years so stepping back in time kinda suits me at the minute. I alway's figured it was going to be my "retirement project" so there was never a hurry to start it until 3 or so years ago when my daughter decided I well n truly qualified as "an old person" and that was when I got right into it. In between working etc etc.
Thanks fellers. Plus a few more pic's. Sorting out the wheel options. Interior hood lining is alloy sheet. The curved corner took a bit of beating...1st time I have tried doing curves like that. Sun visor was from a Payhauler dump truck. Orginally made by Fulton.
