Last Sunday I drew Chris' '49 Chevrolet Deluxe Utility. It's a clean older restoration, pretty much stock.
I did this to it. Sectioned, finned, extended., side windows filled, full custom gate/ rear bed.

  15. Always loved the old steam engines. Got to ride in the cab of one when I was a kid. Used to hop the box cars and ride from one side of town to the other.

    Hello,
Sometimes a photo just hits the right way in the old noggin. There was just something that was not just satisfactory, but outstanding. A simple Model A without fenders, but with some cool Moon Discs. It is/was too bad it had a "blem" on the photo. That may have caused the different scenarios for color choices.

With the Bonneville/Dry Lakes Racing Season coming up soon, an old photo from 1962 hit the spot. The #126 C/A Model A coupe looks like just yesterday for us. The year was 1962 and we were at a crossroads in our adventures. Continue with another build, perhaps an all out assault at the dry lakes or Bonneville with our first choice of old hot rods, a Model A coupe.
    upload_2021-5-14_4-9-48.png

The Moon Aluminum Discs made the Model A coupe look like it had speed records in mind. Although it could have been driven to the lakes or the flats with a street header system. After the original drawing, it was difficult, in trying to figure out the exact color or something close to the digital Model A version. The deep red rust color looks like the perfect fit. Since the background colors are somewhat accurate, except for the grassy green color that looks correct, but if the photo was taken in the daylight in the pits, there is no grass on the salt lake or dry lakes. So, that puzzles correct color task.

Although the computer program took the original B/W photo and made some interesting changes that perhaps, could look like a different color altogether. The Corvette in the background picked up the red color and blended into the whole picture.
    upload_2021-5-14_4-12-33.png
Finally, the last try at adjusting the black and white original photo made things look like a dry lake or the salt flats pits, even the Corvette in the background is a good color and the window of the Ford push truck is not coated red like the above edited image.
    upload_2021-5-14_4-14-17.png
So, the choice is up to the viewer, as to what color the Model A coupe would be from back in 1962.

It is a toss up! YRMV

Call me a complainer, a whiner or what you will but I sure wish the
Friday Art Show would return to showing automotive art presented
as art. There are threads to support the run of the mill photos.

Okay, you can unload on me now.

  24. IMG_2199.JPG Hope to see a few of you tomorrow at the Showdown. Here's a sketch of my old Dodge, at the Latimore dirt track.
