I don't have a specific stance I like, as each type of build has a certain stance that just looks right for the way the builder intended the cars. Not all of them look good low, but they don't all look good high either. On most older 30's coupes and roadsters I like a little downhill stance, regardless of their height off the road surface. But I'm a big fan of gassers from the 50's and 60's also, so I like the stance of those cars with their level or slightly nose up stance. Don't like the nose way up, nor do I like the street freak look that's up too high all around. I like them as they mostly were in the day. 50's and 60's cruisers look good lowered all around, but not a fan of the in the dirt stance some guys do. Just not my thing.
Wow! Loved that little Dodge Bros truck when I first saw it here in the UK about 20 years ago, but alas it seems to have dropped off the radar, or maybe our paths have just not crossed? Big and littlies, down in front and not so much down in the rear works for me. Chris Sent from my SM-T515 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I have a section in my album called, "Car's that trip my trigger" this car is the first one listed.. HRP
Of course it depends on the individual car, but generally speaking nose down on hot rods, tail dragging on customs. Obviously nose high on gassers goes.
perhaps you could explain this term , - pictures would be most helpful. as far as stance goes, I guess it’s like ‘beauty’, - it’s all in the eye of the beholder..... @Moriarity and @nochop understand it ! @mcsfabrication would have gotten more votes if he posted his avatar photo..........
Dago'ed used to be the term for severe front end lowering. It was a derivative of San Diego, where supposedly the dropped axle originated. We probably aren't supposed to say that nowdays ...
Since you did ask..I have strong feelings about body/grille/frame/engine all in alignment/angles the same. That "bent frame stance" gives the car a mismatched broken look, that doesn't work for my eyes (okay I'm being nice..I actually hate that look).
I like them lowered a bit, but not so much you can’t see the top of the tires. Front end a little lower than the rear for some rake. Some cars look good level and slightly lower. I don’t care for slammed low on the ground or tail draggers . And the current trend of having the front end sky high and the rear dragging like they think gassers looked reminds me of a dog taking a crap.
I live and drive my stuff in the real world of pothole city IL. You can loose a car (OK break parts of a car) in some of the pot holes around here. A low car just isn't much fun to drive, I pretty much have a minimum height standard I built to. I also run all 4 tires and wheels that are the same size. The stance (or rake as we call it around here) I prefer is nose slightly down, I build it into the cars and the trucks I build. I'm a retired welder by trade, the bent frame look drives me crazy, why would you want to drive something that looks like its about ready to break in half? Gene
To me it all depends on the car and build style. Nose down hot rods, tail down customs. Sent from my SM-G977U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I like nose down, but because of the technical aspect. Doesn't it help to keep the fuel supplied to the engine under hard acceleration? It flows much better downhill, right ???
Those 32-34 pickups look perfect with the nose down. The bobbed bed and short wheelbase just compliment the whole look.
My terrain is very steep and twisty. I need good handling. I like the front end to be slightly higher with the same width tire on all four corners. This guy nailed it as far as I'm concerned! It looks perfect to me too.. I'll bet it handles nice too...
