I’m planning on putting a Buick 350 in my reo, and I’m planning on keeping it simple with header mufflers. I haven’t had much luck finding headers, and I’m considering just adapting some mufflers and wrapping the stock manifolds. Anyone know of a place that makes a decent set of shorties for this engine? I just did a Google search for Buick headers; all kinds come up. Might cost a little more than your average SBC. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
for the 350? they're rather rare.....and I found a place that sells flanges to make your own headers, but only for the more common buick engines, such as the nailhead, 215-340, and 400-455. They skip over the unpopular 350. But there are some long tube headers for some cars, for the 350. No pictures, so you can't see if they might fit, or not. http://www.taperformance.com/products.asp?cat=385
It appears the 350 and the 455 take the same exhaust manifold gaskets. Mr Gasket 651G Exhaust Gasket Set | eBay
Haven’t thought of that, after looking around at v8buick is does appear that they interchange. Nice observation. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You probably don't want to hear this but keeping it simple for me would mean using the stock exhaust manifolds. Just my opinion. Pat
You might try these guys. http://www.taperformance.com/index.html I bought a lot of 350 stuff from Mike back in the late 80’s/early 90’s for an OT Skylark.
Fair enough, I just don’t want to run a full exhaust system, and I’m trying to keep things tidy. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
nobody makes shorty's for the 350. t/a and doug's make small tube headers. pretty useless. t/a and hooker make 1 3/4 which are way better especially if you use a s/plane intake. the s/p is another world of performance knowledge. ran/modified a set of sbc's 2 1/4 to the 350. BIG difference with the s/p intake. the rail has a 350 with a 6-71 on it. my son's 67 buick runs a b&m 162 on it just for fun. nobody i know, other than me, has run thru all the different venues for the 350. if you have the room, the 350 likes headers, but also the stock manifolds. just depends on what cam/induction you want to run.
