Back to the 50's 2021 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds is back on! All restrictions are off except the masks. The club volunteers and the the leaders have gone thru incredible stress levels and work load to revive the once dead event. The other threads all got deleted or locked, so PLEASE to keep this thread alive: let's not talk about the government, the rules, the politics or the masks. So that HAMBers can see the announcement and make plans to attend if they chose to. The situation is what it is, nothing we can do about it but go or stay home. Check out the MSRA website for details. I hope to see you there!
I can’t imagine the stress and the amount of hours on the board members. Thank you board members and all other for your hard work and hours you put in.
Maybe this will be the year that I finally get a good parking spot! I'm looking forward to seeing some friends old and new, and especially all the cool cars. I'm not sure what car to bring. I want to bring my Hot Rod, but it kind of blends in with the other 13000 cars. Or it would would be fun to bring my Cord L29, it does look a little different than the usual BTTF car.
There are 153 registered Canadians that can not cross the border, they will get their registration fee back. I was on the conference call. The Fairgrounds told the MSRA some food vendors will be selling BEER at the 50's this year.
Give us more. Why haven't they served beer in the past.? What does that mean for attendees bringing in their own beer?
I haven't missed a 50's in the past 35 years, certainly not going to miss this one. Like many, I will have to reschedule some reservations that I canceled, but that's no biggie. GIDDY UP!!!
I don't want this to turn into a mask versus no mask thread, but FYI, the governor has just lifted the mask mandate in Minnesota. I'm sure that will apply to the MSRA back to the '50s event as well!
Bring your masks and ear plugs because I'm bringing the nitro street coupe. It should be fun riding around shooting flames and putting a ton of nitro stink in the air.
Here's another thread. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...k-to-the-50s-roll-call.1229893/#post-14061869
Good news for, the best of all car guys friends in my life, who lives in the twin cities and worked the show or at least did. Having lost his wife a couple of years back, (and my wife's best friend), this will be so good for him.
Joel, I wish I knew you when I still lived in Minneapolis! I would have gladly driven "the other car" to any show you wanted! I'm sure there's another HAMBer in the greater Twin Cities region that would be willing to help if you ask. Lived there for ~6 years and only went once - wish I'd gone every year!
A week to go, better get the wagon ready, the past year had limited show time usage, but did get out for work
