Looks like son in law maybe starting a Flathead build.. we’re gonna try and save this motor. We’re thinking it’s either a French Flathead or Mercury. We’ll check the stroke as soon as we can rotate it. Anyone know a different way to check the make? Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
If both heads are off, assume one piston is near top of stroke and one is near bottom of stroke. The difference in distance from the gasket deck would approximate the stroke.
Some Mercs have 4 bolts to mount the carb. you could look at the size of the cleanout holes in the crank. If a pencil fits=ford, if your pinkie fits=Merc
It was an interesting Saturday to say the least. We took the oil pan, left head, and intake off the son in-laws Flathead and we did some more polishing on the 32. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.

Update First off we’ve been making garnish moldings, polishing paint, and working bugs out on the motor. In the mean time Son in law bought a T and we’ve been chugging along all the while. Video of it running soon. Thanks and sorry for the poor report! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.

Finishing up loose ends on the 32 whilst the son in law builds his T Bucket! Raining here in Missouri but we’ve got great scenery in the shop! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
