I am putting a 65 mustang rear with 15/8 old style American tt wheels. What size tire can I put under there with no clearance issues?[IMG]

    I would think a 235/75R15 should work fine? I think a 255/70R15 would be a little wide.

I was thinking a 225/75 but 235 would look better when I cut doughnuts in the parking lot. Got to let the big 283 eat.

  4. On mine, I mocked up an 8” wheel centered in the rear fender well, hoping that a 255/70R15 would fit.
With a cross sectional width of 10.2”, I realized that the remaining space wasn’t enough to take care of any body roll, with 12” from the bed side to the fender lip.
    I settled on a 7” wheel and 235/70R15.

Fronts are 185/70R15 on stock 15x5 Ford pickup steel wheels.

Nice truck, BTW! Wish I could find AR TT’s in my bolt pattern, 5x5-1/2.

Your rear axle is 57.25" WMS to WMS if the internet is correct
    TT D 15X8 wheels are 4.5" BS
If I am doing the math right no tire will fit those wheels to your truck unless you plan to tub it.

If that happens, I'll put them on the black car.

  9. Correct BB.
    Bed width is 48-1/2”. 57.25” wms. - 9” total back space = 48.25”. Spacer req’d.
    I used 1.5” from USWheelAdapter.com. They show 1”, 1.25”, 1.5” in 5x4-1/2 BP.
I had rather not, but Bronco rear end (5x5-1/2 BP) was already mounted.
    P.P.P.P. on my part.

I think they look like 3.5 BS the second time I looked at them. Still need to run at least 1- 1.25" spacer on each side.

    225/70R15

Keep the wheels and tires all the same size if you want it to handle nice..

You are correct. They are 8.5 wide with a 3.5 bs. I’m getting ahead of myself. Going to get the rear in place first. Then figure the wheels.

I like to get the rear end as narrow as possible, that way I can run deep dish wheels and the rear end is stronger with less axle mass to fail.. I like to use deep dish black steel or deep dish chrome wheels. I like the Wheel Vintiques Series 62 and Series 64..
