Customs 1938/39 car front clip on truck cab

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by flatheadfever, Jun 23, 2014.

  1. I’m still rounding up parts while I work on the 36 coupe.
I’m picking up a 38 and 40 cab with a frame and box. I know where there is a rough 36 4 door that would a good for the front clip.

  2. I just made a deal on a 39 Truck in the Classifieds so I can make my version of this. I have one project to finish first, then the fun begins.

  3. I've always wanted to do this conversion. flt-blk, you should do a build thread when you start on yours. :)

  4. Cool this came back to the top. I am picking up another front clip from a 38 deluxe and I have another cab.
That is nice looking sheet metal

  8. I will do a build thread for part of it, it will look traditional inside and out, but I will keep the hood closed.
I have to finish an Off topic Italian car first
Me and a buddy did a Cannonball trip from Chicago to Fargo to pick it up, 23hr turn around from my door step to unloading it. Mar2020.JPG
The angle is funny, that is my full size Silverado pulling it. Who says a lowered truck is useless.

Looks great! I regret selling the project I had started. Bob

I helped with building one of these many years ago.

We painted it moxie orange and painted the tailgate with the word moxie.

Wish I could still see that truck.

I'll post a pic when I get near my hard drive.

I have an opportunity to pick up 1938 car fenders, hood and grill and I already have a 1940 pickup cab. Can anyone else comment more specifically on what modifications if any are required for the hood and fenders to meet up with the cowl?

The belt line changed 1939-1940 study some photos to see if the later cab would match up. Bob
