Technical Need help identifying calipers

    Anyone know what these calipers are off of? Their good, I just need to get new pads.

    Thanks John, I was thinking Mustang II but I have not found a picture of any Mustang II, or Pinto anywhere that looks like these. The pads are different, the bolt holes are different, the pads are held on by some funky metal clips.

    Thanks Squirrel, that led me to it! It's 68-73 Ford Mustang, Torino, Falcon, etc.

    I think that is an old Super Bell set up, they made one that used the 71-73 Mustang caliper, and the Mustang rotor which mounted to the Super Bell hub

  10. Interesting.... Looks like they deleted the 'stabilizer spring' in the conversion. Look here:

    Those would be the two large silver brackets as seen here and their job was to keep the caliper from 'cocking' and wearing the pads at an angle. This was a real problem on these even with the stabilizer and Ford changed to the 'sliding' caliper design in '74 to address it. With that missing, make sure the caliper anchor pin bolts are unworn, straight and clean, and the rubber bushings should be replaced if loose or damaged at all. Lube the anchor pins with a dab of brake grease when installing.

    The spring that retains the back side pad is an instant indicator that the caliper isn't any sort of GM.
    If memory serves right those kits came out before the GM caliper kits did for hot rods.

  12. Yep, mid/early 70's. Available via Pete&Jakes etc.
    I had a locally made version, I used early 70's Falcon parts.
