  1. My brother has owned this car since 1973. Original builder Larry Carlyon owned it at the time of these 1958 photos.

Man alive, I can't believe we raced like this. What prevented him from falling out?

The Squeezyer' Cheek method...works everytime...then of course the teflon butt wheelie Bars...:D

Joking aside it's actually quite moving reading some of those Racing Sites records of Racers...many died or were terribly injured doing what you Racers love doing...

Above Pancho and Ralph Gonzales probably late 50's. At local LA tracks they always ran well (I remember high 140's 150,..... not bad for gas). In one of the early March meets, I remember seeing the Caddy engine forsale in the back of a pickup. The push car was nice as well and I think it also had a Caddy.

  17. Thanks everyone for all the great photos of back in the day. Sure does bring back a lot of great times I had growing up. Lo6ts of great weekends at the Great Bend drag strip back in the 50"s

    Hello,

The Bader and Ferrara Competition Coupe has a long history of being one of the top competitors in So Cal drag racing history. The bronze color with the cool looking, “bubbly eyes” always had a lighter side of racing to show the spectators and the opponents on the dragstrip. The color combination of bronze body and gold single scallop was intimidating to those on the other lane.

Here is an early version of the Bader-Ferrara Crosley racing for the Top Eliminator Trophy.

By the time we saw the Crosley Sedan at Lion’s Dragstrip in 1959, it had already established its winning ways and kept at the top of the altered coupe class standings.

The one race I filmed was a nail biter. The Reath Automotive 29 altered sedan was also a top contender in the altered coupe/sedan classes. Against each other, was a race of the top altereds racing at Lion’s Dragstrip. it was very close but you decide who won the race.

LB if I'm not mistaken, that looks a lot like Dover Dragstrip in the early 60's.
