As jimmy six says it looks like a '50's Buick fender vent/port.

This # 98 car burned the famous Midnight Oil in Gasoline Alley back in 1961--62 --63-- and 1964 when Parnelli Jones drove this car in the Indy 500 for popular J.C. Agajanian

That looks like Barney Oldfield driver of the Pace Car for the start of the 1922 Indy 500 with # 35 Jimmy Murphy starting from the Pole at a Speed of 100.5 MPH and Won the 500 with a Speed of 94.484 MPH for 500 Miles and led 153 [IMG]

That's actually Jerry Unser in the cockpit of the #18 car at the August state fair race. Brother Bobby is reaching down into the cockpit and twin brother Louie Unser is at the right rear. Sutton drove the #48 Sumar car that day. Jerry missed the show. Thanks for posting the great photo!

I have a friend who put those stupid Talbot mirrors on his '62. Inspite of my ridicule, he still insists on keeping them. The stick-on JCWhitney vent in the cove is a mark of an idiot. The incorrect hubcaps are another thing. Thinner white walls were an actual improvement that we all liked in those days, at least on our Cadillac. That being said, I ran blackwalls on chrome rims on my '58 Corvette and loved that look. I dislike white walls of any sort on Corvettes.

Jim on my 59 vette I ran blackwalls and stock caps. Edgy at the time.

I'd leave everything as is. Just to piss off know it all arrogant, name calling jerks that think they're experts and can't even agree amongst themselves.
WTF cares what any one else likes?
