I have a silly question on a '40 Ford sedan delivery. Underneath the raised cargo wood floor, is the underlying floor the same as the sedan? I'm a rather tall fellow, and I'm looking to buy a '40 SD. I'm pondering if the front of the cargo floor could be shortened by about 12". If the floors are the same, it seems like it would be relatively simple to build a new front support for the shortened wood floor. At least, I am hoping that would be the case... Thanks!

i have a '46 s.d. & i moved the support back about 5". only bad thing is the stock gas tank will no longer fit. i had a new tank made that fits where the spare tire went.
I'm going to guess that is the gas tank right behind the rear seat? If I was going to move the seat mounts back a bit, that looks like it needs to be moved. And thanks for the pic!
I'm 6'3". I did exactly as noted above and moved the crossbar and flooring back to accommodate for my taller frame. My solution to the gas tank location was to use a 40' gas tank mounted in the rear as a coupe or sedan would be. Then I used a filler door mounted in the rear fender off of a 46' car. If I remember correctly, the frame already had the holes to mount the gas tank in the rear............hope this helps.
